Today our Kindy children stepped beyond the gates of Cribb Street and into our local bushland at Smith Park.
With sticks in hand and plenty of curiosity, the children climbed, balanced, navigated uneven ground, investigated fallen logs and stopped to look closely at the little things they discovered along the way.
Perhaps most importantly, our children are beginning to build a relationship with a natural space that belongs to their own local community.
Bush Kindy is about giving time, trust and space to explore. 🌿
Today, Smith Park was our classroom.
Thank you to Friends of Smith Park 🌱

Today we celebrate five years of Miss Holly as our Centre Manager!
Over the past five years, Holly has led Cribb Street with warmth, trust and a clear vision, believing that a strong centre culture is built through shared purpose, collaboration and a genuine commitment to growth.
She has always placed children and education at the heart of every decision, believing that children are capable, competent individuals who deserve opportunities to make choices, take on responsibilities, challenge themselves and learn through meaningful experiences.
Her passion for nature-based learning, children's agency and creating environments that inspire curiosity has helped shape Cribb Street into a place where children, families and educators feel safe, supported and empowered to thrive.
Thank you, Holly, for your dedication, leadership and unwavering belief in what our community can achieve together.
Congratulations on five wonderful years as Centre Manager!

👖 Jeans for Genes Day at Cribb Street! 👖
Today we proudly wore our denim to support Jeans for Genes, helping raise awareness for the 1 in 20 children affected by a birth defect or genetic condition and supporting life-changing medical research.
To celebrate, our children transformed a pair of old jeans into beautiful artwork.

This month at our staff meeting we had the privilege of welcoming Kinex Health as part of their Australia-wide ECEC Roadshow.
Our team engaged in meaningful discussions about sustainable holistic wellbeing, resilience, and the importance of recognising where we are sitting within our own wellbeing zones. We reflected on what it takes for each of us to feel at our best, what helps us remain okay during more demanding periods, and how greater self-awareness can support us both personally and professionally.
The session encouraged honest conversations, shared reflection and practical thinking around wellbeing within the early childhood sector. It gave our educators an opportunity to pause, consider their own needs and build a stronger understanding of resilience beyond simply “bouncing back”.
Thank you to Kinex Health for bringing this thoughtful and practical learning directly to our centre.

As we come to the end of NAIDOC Week, we’ve been reflecting on a special part of Cribb Street’s journey.
Back in 2021, local Ipswich Indigenous artist Shannon created a commissioned artwork especially for Cribb Street. The piece, Kids at the Cribb, tells the story of our children, educators and community. At its centre is our Cribb Street logo, with colours branching out to represent the bush, sand, deserts, rock, rainforests, sea and red earth symbolising the many backgrounds, cultures and stories of the children who learn and grow with us each day.
That artwork didn’t just stay on a canvas. It became part of our identity through our staff shirts, which we continue to wear with pride today.
Our team continue to proudly wear these shirts, reminding us that the meaning behind the artwork has never faded. It continues to represent connection, belonging and our commitment to honouring and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
As we look ahead to our 50th Anniversary celebrations in October, we’re excited that Shannon’s artwork will continue its journey by being incorporated into our commemorative 50th anniversary shirts.
