Our Year 5 and Year 6 students had the wonderful opportunity to meet Australian author and cartoonist Georgina Chadderton! 📚✨
Georgina is the author and illustrator of Oh Brother, her debut graphic memoir. The book explores the joys and challenges of growing up alongside her autistic younger brother, Rob, and explores themes of family, friendship, disability, acceptance and growing up.
Students enjoyed hearing about Georgina’s journey as a cartoonist and author, learning more about how she creates comics and graphic novels, and gaining an insight into the real life experiences that inspired Oh Brother.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to connect with a real Australian author and see how personal experiences, creativity and storytelling can come together to create a powerful story.
A big thank you to Georgina for inspiring our young readers and writers!

At the recent State Hockey Championships, Charlotte (Yr 5), Bronson (Yr 5) and Annabelle (Yr 5) proudly represented Met West. A special congratulations to Bronson and his team on their outstanding achievement of finishing third in Queensland. 🥉👏 Earlier this year, George (Yr 6) also proudly represented Met West at the AFL State Championships, showcasing his talent on the state stage.
Congratulations to Charlotte, Bronson, Annabelle and George on these fantastic achievements. Your hard work, commitment and determination are inspiring, and we are so proud of the way you continue to represent St Mary's with excellence both on and off the field.
📸 Is your child achieving excellence in sport, the arts, academics or another area outside of school? We would love to celebrate their success with our community. Please share your photos and good news stories with the school office so we can recognise and celebrate the wonderful achievements of our St Mary's students. 🌟

Shhhh...We need your help! 🤫
This Friday, we celebrate Principal’s Day, and at St Mary’s we are incredibly lucky to have Ms Curtis as our wonderful Principal. Ms Curtis works so hard to support our students, staff and families, and we are so grateful for the care, dedication and positivity she brings to our school community each day. 💙
To help us celebrate her, we would love for our St Mary’s families to comment below and share something you love about our Principal. Whether it’s a kind moment you have noticed, something you appreciate, or a message of thanks, we would love to hear from you! 💐
On Friday, we will share these messages with Ms Curtis to help brighten her day and show her how much she is appreciated. 💙✨
