💧 Eco Marines Water Wise Mural 💧

We are so excited to share the incredible new mural that has been created at St Mary’s as part of our Eco Marines Water Wise journey! Our 2025 Eco Marines were successful in winning a Waterwise Week competition through Urban Utilities, with the amazing prize of a $5,000 mural for our school!

This achievement was the result of the wonderful work completed by our 2025 Eco Marines, who conducted a water audit across our school. They gathered data and evidence about water use and waste, which they then used to create a Waterwise display in our library.

As part of the mural design process, artist Ambrose Killian visited St Mary’s and worked with our Year 6 students across all three classes to develop ideas that reflected our school and our local area. The finished mural features beautiful blues, aquas and earthy browns, representing different forms of water and paying special reference to the Bremer and Brisbane Rivers. At the centre of the mural is a large community circle, symbolising the strong, connected and caring St Mary’s community. 💙

A huge thank you to Ambrose for bringing our students’ ideas to life, and to all of the staff and students who contributed to this fantastic achievement. What a wonderful reminder of the impact our students can make when they work together to care for our environment!

*Boys: Dress pants or shorts, a button up shirt or neat T shirt, and comfortable enclosed dancing shoes.
*Girls: A dress or skirt and shirt, with comfortable enclosed dancing shoes.

💙 Wellbeing Week at St Mary’s! 💙

Last week, we celebrated Wellbeing Week and took some time to focus on the importance of looking after ourselves and each other.

Our staff took the opportunity to spread a little kindness and appreciation by sharing messages on our Staff Shout Out Wall. It was wonderful to see so many thoughtful messages recognising the amazing people who make up our St Mary’s community.

We’d love to continue spreading the kindness! Is there a St Mary’s staff member who deserves a shout out? 💙 Whether they have made your child smile, gone above and beyond, supported your family or simply made a difference, we would love to hear from you!

Pop your shout out in the comments below and help us celebrate the wonderful staff who make St Mary’s such a special place.

A reminder for our families that Friday 4th September is a Pupil Free Day.

Our staff will be onsite engaging in professional development, so there will be no school for students on this day.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday!
