SCIENCE WEEK AT EDDIES! 🔬💥🌱

Science Week brought plenty of curiosity, creativity and some seriously cool experiments to the College this week!

Our Science Department put on a fantastic line-up of hands-on activities, giving the boys the chance to explore, experiment and discover science in action.

From making native seed bombs 🌱 and exploring butterfly camouflage 🦋, to creating terrariums and experiencing Davo’s Little Science Show, complete with liquid nitrogen and some impressive chemical reaction experiments - there was plenty to capture everyone’s attention!

And then there was the grand finale… the wonderfully hectic Elephant Toothpaste explosion!

A huge thank you to our Science Department for bringing science to life and creating such a fun and engaging week for our students.

Science is definitely more fun when it gets a little messy!

This morning, we had the pleasure of celebrating the achievements of our Years 5 and 6 students at their Academic Awards Assembly.

It was wonderful to recognise the boys who have demonstrated outstanding effort, commitment and achievement in their learning. These awards are not only a celebration of results, but also of the hard work, persistence and positive attitude that goes into achieving them.

Congratulations to all our award recipients. We are incredibly proud of the way you continue to challenge yourselves, embrace opportunities and strive to be your best.

Our Visual Art students from Years 9 –12 recently visited the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane, and the experience proved to be both inspiring and transformative.

Across all year levels, students were able to encounter contemporary artworks firsthand, deepening their understanding of visual language, artistic intention, and the power of creative expression.

Seeing professional works in a gallery setting broadened their aesthetic awareness, sparked rich conversations, and encouraged them to think more critically and imaginatively about their own art‑making. For senior students, the visit directly enriched their inquiry development for ATAR Visual Art, while younger students gained a vivid sense of what is possible within the subject as they progress through the curriculum.

Overall, the excursion offered a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with new ideas, new practices, and the vibrant cultural landscape of Brisbane’s art community - an experience that will continue to shape their learning long after returning to the classroom.

Congratulations to Harrison, Thomas and Markus on their QATSIF Graduation. A special mention to Harrison for receiving the Transurban Paiabun Karumba (Dream big) scholarship.

The Year 12 Certificate II Sport & Recreation and Certificate III Fitness students are in their final assessment period. The 4-week assessment block requires them to train an older client for the set period of time. This assessment demands a lot from the students, requiring them to put their 2 years of study into real-world practice.

Thank you to the many people in our SEC community for volunteering to be clients for the students.
