During the Year 5 and 6 Gala Day, a small group of students explored sculpture and mixed media art through a range of creative activities. Using Modroc plaster bandages, they designed and constructed animal sculptures, carefully layering and shaping materials to create realistic forms and textures.
While waiting for their sculptures to dry, students were inspired by Isobel Knowles and Van Sowerwine's exhibition, The World Came Flooding In, currently showing at the Ipswich Art Gallery. Drawing on the artists' imaginative miniature worlds, students began creating their own tiny houses complete with furniture using cardboard and paper.
It was wonderful to see students experimenting with techniques while developing their creativity, perseverance and design skills throughout the day.

Today, we celebrate Lilja! 🩰✨
Last Friday, she completed her Level 3 ACB ballet exam—an incredible achievement after countless hours of training in the beautiful, technically demanding and physically challenging Russian syllabus. The dancers were examined by Christine Walsh, who travelled interstate especially for the occasion.
Lilja may not consider herself a “natural” dancer, but she is something just as special: a worker. Quietly determined and incredibly diligent, she continues to show up and work hard through pressure, pain, setbacks and disappointment. Her reserved nature can sometimes mean her efforts go unnoticed—but not today.
Lilja received her very first Distinction, and it was at the very high end of the Distinction range!
To say we are proud is an understatement. Her hard work, persistence and quiet strength have paid off—and she is absolutely thrilled.
Congratulations, Lilja. This moment is yours, and you have earned every bit of it. 💐👏
