Over the school holidays there is still lots to do! We have been cleaning, sorting, tidying and re-arranging! We have been setting up for term 3, organising the demountable building while the new stairs for it were being built and catching up on our documentation. We have been coordinating our term 3 visitors and excursions, replying to emails and completing training and professional development. We have topped up the sand in our sandpit and refreshed the softfall in our fort area! Thank you very much to all of our amazing staff for the wonderful job they have done preparing for another term at RSCK! Take a look below at just some of the new provocations we have waiting for the children's return! Some cheeky little mice have moved in under our sideboard in the entry way! (Thank you very much to Genevieve for the gorgeous paintings inside the mouse doors! )

Term 2 went by so quickly! The children had a lot of fun exploring light using torches, puck lights, light panels, lamps, the sun and a projector!
Our nature table was full of different leaves, seedpods, flowers and bark. The children delighted in taking a closer look at everything under our microscopes! They spent time programming the Bee Bots and also enjoyed some cooking and gardening.
In the art studios and out in the playground, we practiced lots of mark making as we explored line and shape. Some children mixed paint to make new colours and others drew and painted from observation.
Outside the children enjoyed playing on the scooter boards, in the Tonka trucks and building their own obstacle courses. Bring on Term 3!

We had a lot of visitors to the kindergarten in term 2! As part of our commitment to sustainability, we invited Recycleman in to talk about recycling, Ocean from Urban Native Bees to install our new hive and teach us all about bees and Dragon Fields Farm to help us set up our black soldier fly farm, to process all of our food waste. Other visitors included the librarians from the Ipswich Children's Library, Trish and two cheeky rabbits from The Llama Farm, two ducks from Dragon Fields and a couple of friendly guinea pigs.

We also went on an excursion to the Ipswich Art Gallery to play with light and Group 2 began their bush kindy program. The Group 1 children will begin bush kindy in term 3!

Last week Ocean from Urban Native Bees visited both of our kindy groups. The children learnt all about the important job that bees do! They listened to the bees and used torches to see inside the hives. We even got to see a queen lay an egg! We installed our new native bee hive and the children kept a close eye on the little native bees or โ€˜kutaโ€™ exploring their new surroundings. The children loved tasting honey ๐Ÿฏ and even got to take some home. In the next few weeks we will
be planting some everlasting daisies for our new pets. ๐Ÿ Thank you Ocean ๐Ÿ’•

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2026. The theme for this year is โ€œAll Inโ€, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. โ€œAll Inโ€ makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change โœจ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

C&K is dedicated to working towards a reconciled nation. As a proud ally to First Nations peoples, we are committed to sharing their stories, history, and ways of knowing and being. This commitment comes to life every day in our kindergartens and childcare centres, where First Nations perspectives, languages, and ways of knowing are woven into our children's earliest learning experiences ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

At C&K, weโ€™re All In. Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’› ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’š

National Sorry Day acknowledges the Stolen Generations and the ongoing impacts of past policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

It is a time for learning, reflection and consideration of how understanding history informs current and future practice.

This means creating culturally safe spaces, listening to Aboriginal voices, and embedding respect, truth telling and belonging into everyday practice.
