Thank you for sharing the delightful results of this activity in your library, ! 🎄

Repost • Kindergarten read shortlisted Early Childhood book The Thing about Christmas by and .

We discussed how Christmas looks different for different people and what the most important thing about this time is the people you love.

Students then drew their own baubles, which are now strung up in the library.

Thanks for the template and idea.

Teacher-librarian Mel Kroeger from Good News Lutheran School did this activity from our Book Week publication recently! It's based on the CBCA-shortlisted picture book Bob and Dob, by Sean E. Avery. Here's what Mel said...

"The year 3 and 4s loved giving Bob and Dob advice for our library Advice Tree! Such a fabulous activity that brought about excellent conversations about when it is appropriate to dob, when to try to deal with situations ourselves and lying. We looked at the illustrating style of Sean E. Avery and tried to recreate this for the bird templates. Another brilliant book by Sean E. Avery which has sparked interest in Frank’s Red Hat and Neville’s Great Escape!"

Thanks for sharing, Mel! Who else is using our book already? Get yours for $42.95 at shop.idtl.net.au!

PS. We love it when you like, share and/or comment on our posts to help spread the word about our wonderful publication! The Ipswich TLs have been creating this resource for 35+ years... it makes schools' and libraries' Book Week celebrations SO much easier!

That’s a wrap on the inaugural Storyfest West Moreton! 📣

We’d like to thank our festival partners, West Moreton Anglican College and Ipswich-District Teacher Librarian Network, as well as Ipswich City Council, for making this event possible.

And next, we take these experiences further into the regions - where every child, every story matters.

Teacher-librarian Mel Kroeger from Good News Lutheran School did this activity from our Book Week publication this week!...
17/07/2026

Teacher-librarian Mel Kroeger from Good News Lutheran School did this activity from our Book Week publication this week! It's based on the CBCA-shortlisted picture book My Nonno Loves, by Adelle Frittitta and Claudia Frittitta. Here's what Mel said...

"I did this activity today with the year 1s and they loved it! Initially I was worried that the activity may be a little too tricky, but with the words above the picture, it made it much more manageable for everyone and every child had success! We are comparing text types and their features, so we looked at a non-fiction book on grandparents. My Nonno Loves was adored by all and made great conversations about the importance of grandparents and all the special things they bring to our lives."
