Did you know Irlen Syndrome can run in families? π
If one person in the family experiences symptoms such as reading difficulties, light sensitivity, headaches, visual discomfort, poor concentration or fatigue, it may be worth considering whether other family members are affected too.
Irlen Syndrome can look different from person to person. One child may struggle with reading, another may be sensitive to bright light, while an adult may experience headaches, screen fatigue or difficulty with glare.
If Irlen Syndrome sounds familiar in your family, an assessment may help provide answers and practical support.

How did Your child do in Naplan?
Did their results reflect their effort?
Do they try really hard in class but did not get good results?
Were their results poor compared to their intelligence?
Children with Irlen Syndrome try really hard to learn but, because they see distortions to the printing, or the white hurts their eyes they are unable to learn efficiently. Sometimes they just can't concentrate because it is so fatiguing they need to have little breaks, meaning they don't get their work finished in time.
If you think your child may have Irlen Syndrome a simple one hour assessment might give you and them the improvements your looking for.

πThe Irlen Clinic can also provide educational and reading advice to parents to help their children catch up with their learning as well as providing written reports for school based accommodations.
