Lack confidence when it comes to speaking up? Seasons change, and so can that.
This Wednesday 26th August, City of Ipswich Toastmasters takes on the theme "Change of Seasons", led by a name plenty of you will recognise from driving down Brisbane Street: Russell Bachmann.
Here is what is on for the night:
π Four speeches from members at different stages of their journey
π An education session from local Toastmasters legend Maurie Mcguire, "The Secrets to Evaluation"
π A warm room full of people who were nervous once too
Every speaker you will see on Wednesday started exactly where you are now. The only difference is they turned up.
Guests are always welcome. Come along, sit back, and see what it's all about.
Coming along? Let us know here so we can say hello on the night:

π€ Everyone remembers their first speech. The nerves, the racing heart, the moment you realise you can actually do this!
On Wednesday night, our newest member had that moment, delivering her Icebreaker speech to a room full of applause. Congratulations Talia! you've officially found your voice! π
The rest of the evening, themed "Discovery" by Toastmaster Michael Ming, was packed:
π President Andrew had the room in stitches with tales of his childhood antics
π£οΈ Fred explored the different communication styles and how to engage people who see the world differently, part of his Level 2 journey
π Toastmasters legend Maurie McGuire shared how to thrive, not just survive, in Table Topics
π¬ A double serving of Table Topics to put that advice into practice
β Word of the day was "breakthrough", and after a hard-fought contest, Michael claimed the title himself
If speaking in front of a room feels impossible right now, that's exactly where every one of us started. π
π Guests are always welcome. Free to visit, no pressure to speak, no obligation. Come and watch, sit at the back, see what it's about.

Somewhere in Ipswich tonight, someone is about to give their first ever speech...
Check out the agenda for tonight! π
City of Ipswich Toastmasters meets this evening! (Want to come along??) and our theme is Discovery.π
ποΈ Michael, our VP Education and long time member, is Toastmaster for the evening, steering us through the night and setting the tone for what Discovery really means.
π Talia, one of our newest members, delivers her Icebreaker, her very first speech!! π If you've ever thought "I could never do that", here's the thing. Every single person in that room has stood exactly where Talia is standing tonight. That's why they'll all be quietly cheering her on. π
π Evaluating her is local Toastmasters legend Maurie Mcguire, who has a gift for feedback that leaves you taller than when you started. Watching Maurie work is a masterclass in itself.
π Our President Andrew takes the floor with "Once Upon a Childhood", working through Level 3 of βDynamic Leadershipβ - βNegotiate the Best Outcomeβ. Stories from his childhood, and what they taught him. He's also our Quotemaster tonight, so we'll be waiting to see what wisdom our dear leader has picked out for us. π
πͺ Fred, our VP Public Relations, is working through Level 2 - Dynamic Leadership and asking a question most of us never stop to ask. What is my communication style, and how is it landing on the people around me?
βοΈ Keeping us all honest is Russell Bachmann, long time member and President of the local Rotary Club, as our General Evaluator. Everyone is on notice! π
Nobody in that room started out comfortable. They just started. π€
π Guests are always welcome. Free to visit, no pressure to speak, no obligation. Come and watch, sit at the back, see what it's about.

π Christmas in July at Toastmasters! βοΈ
Our meeting last Wednesday came with tinsel and a fair bit of festive cheer. Our Toastmaster for the Evening, Violet, along with a few of our members, brought the room to life with lovely Christmas decorations that made the winter chill rather enjoyable.
Jed Kinnane stepped in for our Treasurer George and kept the business session moving right along. Nicely done, Jed!
We had some great speeches, and Russell Bachmann served up a round of Table Topics that had everyone thinking on their feet.
Thanks Violet for a lovely evening.
