🌿 Nature, Imagination & Little Explorers 🌿
During our Bush Kindy excursion, the children embraced the opportunity to slow down, connect with nature and become curious explorers of their surroundings. 🌳🍂
With small buckets in hand, the children foraged for small twigs, fallen leaves, feathers, bark and other natural treasures they discovered on the ground. Each child carefully selected pieces that caught their attention before contributing them to our collaborative nature artwork. Together, the children created a beautiful collection of the natural textures, colours, shapes and treasures found within their environment.
Our exploration then extended into small-world imaginative play. Using dinosaurs, cars and the natural materials around them, the children created their own miniature worlds and scenarios. Twigs became pathways, leaves became landscapes and the bush became a place where stories and adventures could unfold. 🦕🚗🌿
Through this experience, the children were developing so much more than an appreciation for nature. They were building fine-motor skills, observation and sensory awareness, creativity, language, problem-solving and imaginative thinking, while also practising the social skills of sharing ideas, negotiating play and contributing to a shared project.
Most importantly, the experience provided opportunities for the children to lead their own learning, follow their curiosity and discover that nature itself can become a resource for creativity, connection and play. 💚

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.
When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:
💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.
💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.
💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

As part of NAIDOC Week, the children have been busy creating beautifully decorated fish to contribute to our Sea of Fish display in the foyer.
The Sea of Fish is a meaningful activity that celebrates and acknowledges the rich cultures, histories, and continuing connections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to the sea, waterways, and Country. Through this experience, the children have explored the importance of community, belonging, and caring for our environment while expressing their creativity.
Each fish is unique, symbolising that although we are all different, we come together to create one vibrant and connected community. We invite all families to take a moment to visit our Sea of Fish display in the foyer and celebrate the children's wonderful creations and their learning throughout NAIDOC Week. 🩵

Did you receive Child Care Subsidy (CCS) in 2024–25?
Don’t forget to confirm your family income by 30 June 2026 to avoid interruptions to your CCS payments.

As we approach the end of the financial year, we wanted to send a gentle reminder to families receiving Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
If you received CCS during the 2024–25 financial year, please ensure you:
✅ Lodge your tax return (or advise Centrelink if you don’t need to lodge one)
✅ Confirm your family income by 30 June 2026
✅ Review and update your 2026–27 family income estimate
Keeping these details up to date helps ensure your CCS continues without interruption and prevents any unexpected changes to your childcare fees.
If you’re unsure whether your details need updating, we encourage you to log in to your myGov account and check your CCS information.
