Every day is an opportunity for scientific discovery at Building Futures Montessori.

From exploring colour mixing and categorising living and non-living objects to watching our garden herbs grow, children are constantly building the habits of a scientist through observation, wonder and hands-on exploration.

National Science Week is a wonderful chance to shine a spotlight on these investigations, but it is also a celebration of the everyday curiosity that fills our environment all year long.

🚪 The most important lessons start at the door 🚪

The morning arrival is so much more than a "drop-off", it is a gentle welcome and time for connection. It’s the moment a child leaves their family circle and steps into their Montessori community of friends and guides.

We embrace this daily transition right from the start by showing children the "how" of greetings:

- A personal welcome: A simple, eye-level greeting, handshake or elbow bump tells the child: "You are seen, you are respected and you belong here."

- Space for independence: Taking the time to pop their hat in their locker or tuck away their shoes is their first act of care for their environment.

- Mindful connection: Montessori Guides show the children how to best walk softly past a friend finishing a task, or how to wait for a natural pause before saying hello and asking how are you.

These moments provide social scaffolding. By modelling these small, beautiful moments, we replace "new day" jitters with the quiet confidence of knowing exactly how to navigate their world with kindness and connection.

We have a feeling a very special visitor might be hopping through our veggie patches this weekend! While we wait for the Easter Bunny to make his rounds, our team will be taking a little break to enjoy the festivities with our own families.

🎉 You’re Invited: 20 Years of Building Futures Montessori – Forest Lake 🎉

This year, Building Futures Montessori Forest Lake turns 20, and we’d love to celebrate with the people who have been part of our journey along the way.

We’re inviting past and present families, children, former educators, and our wider community to join us for a celebration filled with connection, memories and the fun of Building Futures Montessori - Forest Lake.

Over the years, so many children have grown, learned and flourished within our service, guided by our wonderful educators. This celebration is a chance to pop in, catch up with old friends, reconnect with past educators and meet new faces too.
