The Greater Ipswich College of Piping and Drumming is a new initiative by City of Ipswich Pipe Band,

A part of the City of Ipswich Pipe Band, the college is specifically designed and targeted to the Ipswich community for young people that wish to learn the Bagpipes or Drums, ultimately become part of the band and taking advantage of some exciting opportunities. With the establishment of the Greater Ipswich College of Piping and Drumming, under the auspices of the band, the aim is to:

The 2022 Australian Pipe Band Championships this Saturday in Sydney will be an exciting opportunity for some of our younger pipers and drummers to perform.

Through the Greater Ipswich College of Piping and Drumming, our novice drummers (like Morgan Saywell and Abbie Graham pictured below left) learn the skills and technique of the Highland snare drum. It will be their first Aussies!

Our drum corps is led by Drum Sergeant Callum MacSween; in Grade 3, the lead snare drummer is John Grant.

Our Band and pipe corps is led by Pipe Major Nick Tomkins.

The Band plays MK3 Chesney chanters with Chensey Reeds from Chesney Reeds.

Throwback Thursday... to the 2019 ANZAC March when Euan Graham, now in Year 7, represented the City of Ipswich Pipe Band playing the bagpipes and performed a solo lament at the RSL sub-branch.

This Sunday 250 of our boys will be marching the streets of Ipswich to pay their respects.

🥁 Well done to Instrumental Music Program student Morgan Saywell (Year 9) who represented the City of Ipswich Pipe Band on drums, as part of the Warwick Caledonian Society Inc. 150th Celebration over the weekend! This was the largest massed band performance in at least 50 years for Warwick & it's great to see our students getting involved in the wider community 👏
