Did you know we invested $65.5M into our social purpose last year, a 14% increase on the year before? 👏 At Goodstart, we're proud of the impact we have on children, families and communities. As a not‑for‑profit, every dollar we earn is reinvested to improve outcomes – from high‑quality learning and educator development to extra support for children who need it most.

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.

This morning we received some heartbreaking news that one of our dear work colleagues and her son was involved in a house fire overnight and they have been left with nothing but their clothes on their back.

We are setting up a GoFundMe fundraiser on behalf of the team at Goodstart Camira where Michelle has worked for more than 10 years, Michelle has made such an impact on so many life's and is such a valued member of our community. We are raising money to help Michelle and her son after a house fire destroyed the contents of their house.

🪴💚 At Goodstart Early Learning Camira, our nursery children had a wonderful time celebrating World Environment Day by becoming little environmental heroes! They eagerly watered our nursery garden, learning how caring for plants help keep our planet healthy and beautiful. 🌸🌿

🌊🐠 We also celebrated World Ocean Day with a fun-filled ocean-themed water play experience! The children explored a variety of sea animals through sensory play, sparking their curiosity and imagination while learning about the amazing world beneath the waves. 🐙🦀🐳

It has been a fantastic week at Goodstart Early Learning Camira, filled with hands-on learning, discovering, and opportunities for our children to connect with and appreciate the wonderful world around them. 💙🌏

🎀 GO PINK THIS JUNE 🎀

For the month of June, we have chosen to GO PINK every Wednesday in support of breast cancer research.

On the 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th, we invite all children, families and educators to join in by wearing pink, colouring their hair, or adding pink accessories in support.

This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, raise awareness and show support for those affected by breast cancer. Every little bit of pink helps spread love, kindness and hope. 💗

A gold coin donation is also welcome, with all donations going towards supporting breast cancer research. Miss Amanda also has a fundraiser running through till October, with a QR code attached for anyone who would like to donate that way as well.

We can’t wait to see everyone getting involved each Wednesday throughout June! 🌸

Community outreach 💛

Every Wednesday and Friday, our wonderful community centre next door kindly delivers leftover breads from their Care Free Food Drive to help support our families and wider community.

This has become such a meaningful part of our week, allowing food that may have otherwise gone to waste to instead be shared with those who may need a little extra support. It’s a beautiful reminder of what can happen when communities come together to care for one another.

We are so grateful for this ongoing partnership and the kindness shown through these generous donations. Thank you Camira Springfield Community Centre for helping us continue to support our families and create a caring, connected community for everyone. ✨

On Wednesday the 22nd of May, we were lucky enough to have a visit from our local firefighters 🚒

The children were so excited to learn all about the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe. We explored the fire truck, talked about fire safety, and even had the chance to see some of the special equipment firefighters use every day.

There were lots of smiles, curiosity, and wonderful conversations as the children asked questions and shared their own ideas and experiences.

A big thank you to our amazing local firefighters for taking the time to visit us and create such a fun and memorable experience for the children ❤️
