This!!! Learning music is so amazing for our brain! https://www.facebook.com/share/17apu7ukAn/

Your brain on music is basically a superpower. New research shows that musicians' brains age differently than everyone else's, and the results are absolutely fascinating. While most people's brains struggle more with age, musicians maintain brain patterns that look decades younger. It's not about being talented or famous. It's about what happens inside your head every time you practice. The science behind this will change how you think about learning an instrument.

We were thrilled to see AMTA members Professor Katrina McFerran RMT and Dr Jason Kenner RMT in the Herald Sun this week, helping the public understand why music does more than just lift our mood – it supports real therapeutic outcomes.

🧠 “Music is wonderful at triggering the reward systems in our brain,” says Katrina, “which then connects to motivation, engagement and activity.”

💬 Jason adds: “We begin by understanding the client’s therapeutic goals, then consider their specific relationship with music, and commence work from there.”

This is what sets registered music therapists apart – we use music with purpose, training and intention to support people’s health and wellbeing.
