You tell me how long it’s been. 10 years. Maybe more. How much you’ve forgotten. How you’re probably going to be terrible.
And then we start moving.
And I watch your body remember things your brain already wrote off.
That’s not luck. That’s muscle memory.
Give yourself permission to wake it up again.

The expectation you have of yourself is the hardest part of coming back.
Not the steps.
Not the other people in the room.
The gap between who you were and who you are now.
That gap is normal.
It doesn’t mean you’ve lost it.
It means you care.
And that’s exactly the kind of person who belongs here.

That’s the one that stays with me every time I watch this back.
Because that’s the part nobody tells you before you walk through the door.
That you won’t be behind.
That the room isn’t watching to catch you out - it’s watching to cheer you on.
These people came in nervous.
