🌴 Ipswich, if the thought of speaking in front of people makes your stomach drop, come along Monday night to see how other locals have overcome this fear.

No speech required. No pressure to say a word. You can sit at the back with a cuppa and just watch what happens when ordinary people practise the one skill most of us avoid.

The theme is Island Life and here is what is on for Meeting #184:

✨ A few weeks ago, they were nervous about speaking in front of anyone.

On Monday night, they stood up, delivered their final speeches, and collected their Speechcraft certificates in front of a room full of applause.

The improvement from their first Icebreaker to their final speech was genuinely dramatic. That's practice, feedback, and a room full of people cheering you on.

🏅 Certificates also went to our facilitators, the experienced Toastmasters who guided every session and supported the Speechcrafters along the way. Thank you!

If you watched this from the sidelines thinking "I could never do that"... that's exactly what they said too.

Monday night at Heart of the City Toastmasters, our Speechcrafters took the floor... and wow. 👏 (No pics, I was too engaged!)

If you'd seen where these folks started, you wouldn't believe the confidence, the poise, the presence on show this week. Watching someone go from "I could never do that" to owning the room in a matter of weeks is honestly one of the best things about this club. 🌟

Then Ben McCormick took over with a session on Vocal Variety 🎶. Interactive, energetic, and a genuine eye-opener on how much your voice alone can change the way a message lands. Everyone was up on their feet! 😄

🎤 Six weeks ago, some gave their first speech.

🔥 What a session last Monday!

Local Toastmasters legend Maurie Mcguire ran our Speechcraft segment on body language and evaluation, and he showed exactly why he has the reputation he does. Decades of stagecraft distilled into one evening. 🎤

Our Speechcrafters learned how much of a message lives in the hands, the stance and the pause. 🙌 And our members got just as much out of it.

👏 Thank you Maurie! Sessions like this are what Speechcraft is all about: real skills, taught by people who've mastered them, in a room where it's safe to practise.
