Just letting everyone know that Read to Write Tutoring services is taking a break due to a promotion which comes with an increase in workload and responsibility. Thank you to my wonderful clients and their supportive parents. If you are looking for a tutor, you can search the Australian Tutors Association for tutors in the local area.

No more guessing! Be a decoding dragon, not a guessing goose!

Science now proves that the effective method for teaching beginner readers is decoding words using letter/sound correspondence knowledge not looking at pictures and guessing words. Decodable readers are the key to providing cumulative practise for decoding skills. Check out our range in our shop https://www.decodablereadersaustralia.com.au/collections

Meet the team.

My name is Joanne or Jo. I’m an Experienced Senior Teacher and the Founder of Read to Write Tutoring Services. I’m a registered teacher with over 27 years experience working with students from Prep to Year 3. I’m currently employed by Education Queensland as a Learning Support and Inclusion Teacher. When I’m not working or tutoring, I enjoy sewing, crocheting, shopping and reading. Really, I just like making a mess. I run, walk and go to the gym because it’s good for me 😂 I also love trivia and have an uncanny knack at making very good guesses. Most of all, I love working with children and their families. I’m taking bookings now for term 2 enrolments so message me.

Keep up or catch up? I can provide support for both. 😄

'Keep up' or 'catch up' interventions?

At Sounds-Write, we talk a lot about literacy interventions. The two main types we tend to discuss are 'keep up' and 'catch up' interventions. But, what are the differences?

You can hear more on this topic by listening to The Sounds-Write Podcast Episode 8: Literacy Interventions with Jacinda Vaughan >> sounds-write.co.uk/the-sounds-write-podcast

This is so true!

This quote is a good reminder that a structured literacy approach caters for all students with none left behind. Every child deserves to learn to read using instructional approaches backed by reseach.

Hi, my name is Jo and I am a primary school teacher with over 27 years of classroom experience. I’m offering reading tutoring for children in Prep to Year 2 in Deebing Heights and surrounding suburbs. I run 30 or 40 minute sessions in my home. I currently have availability Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. First session is free to enable me to assess your child’s needs. I’m a member of the Australian Tutors Association and currently work as a learning support and inclusion teacher in one of our local primary schools. Send me a message for more information.
