Friday 8th May, Inverloch Childcare held our annual Mother’s Day afternoon tea to celebrate all of the wonderful mums and special people in the children’s lives. Across the centre, the children and their loved ones shared in special photo opportunities, fun activities and a delicious afternoon tea filled with biscuits, cake and fresh fruit.
The afternoon provided a lovely opportunity for families to explore the children’s artwork displayed throughout the rooms, spend quality time together within the learning environment and connect with their children’s peers and educators. It was wonderful to see so many smiles, conversations and special moments shared throughout the afternoon as we celebrated the important people in our children’s lives.

In the lead up to ANZAC Day, the children at Inverloch Childcare engaged in age-appropriate learning experiences to help build an understanding of the importance of this significant day. Across the centre, children participated in meaningful art activities and conversations that introduced concepts of remembrance, community and respect. On the Friday prior to ANZAC Day, some of our younger children from the Seahorse Room had the special opportunity to visit the Inverloch Cenotaph to place their artwork on behalf of the centre. While the children may have been too young to fully understand the significance of the occasion, these early learning opportunities help foster a sense of community connection and belonging from a young age. Experiences such as these are a wonderful example of how important Australian commemorations and community spirit can be meaningfully shared with children across all age groups.

Over the last couple of weeks, the children at ICC have been immersed in all things under the sea in recognition of Sea Week 2026. Sea Week is Australia and New Zealand’s national campaign to promote ocean literacy, celebrate our seas, and raise awareness about marine conservation.
Throughout the centre, children have been exploring ocean themes through a variety of engaging experiences. They have listened to stories and songs about sea life, created beautiful ocean-inspired artworks, helped make ocean-themed playdough, and investigated a collection of different shells. These hands-on experiences encouraged curiosity and meaningful conversations about the animals that live in our oceans and the importance of caring for them.
It has been wonderful to see the children’s excitement as they discovered new sea creatures, explored textures and shapes of shells, and expressed their ideas through art and play. Experiences like these help foster children’s growing understanding of the natural world and their role in protecting it.

Over the past few weeks, the children at ICC have been enjoying a range of engaging learning experiences celebrating both Lunar New Year and the Holi Festival. Throughout the centre, children explored colourful art activities, listened to cultural stories, and participated in music experiences inspired by these celebrations.
The children were especially fortunate to learn about these traditions from our wonderful educators. Niwa, who celebrates Lunar New Year in her home country of China. Pranish, who celebrates Holi in his home country of Nepal, introduced the children to the joy and colour associated with this vibrant festival.
These experiences provide valuable opportunities for children to learn about different cultures and traditions, helping to foster a strong sense of belonging, respect, and cultural awareness within our ICC community.

It has been a busy month at Inverloch Childcare with our existing children moving into their new rooms and getting to know their new educators. With this, we have also welcomed many new families and children into our service who our educators are excited to form meaningful bonds with and get to know! With a new year also comes the saying goodbye to many of our previous families as our 2025 kinder children begin their new journey through the schooling years. On behalf of all the ICC staff we wish each and everyone of these families all the best for the future!
Moving forward, we look forward to starting our community outings back up again and continue building our meaningful relationships the local community and environment.

On Thursday the 20th of November, our Kinder children were lucky enough to receive a very special visit from some of the residents of Opal Aged Care in Inverloch. Throughout the year, a small group of children has been travelling to Opal each fortnight to spend time with local residents, sharing in activities, storytelling, and quality time together. Last week, it was the residents’ turn to come and experience the joy of our Kinder classroom.
The children welcomed their guests with big smiles and open arms, excited to show them around their learning environment. Together they enjoyed a morning filled with games, singing, and shared conversations before sitting down for a delicious morning tea. The room was filled with laughter, gentle chatter, and moments of connection that highlighted the beautiful bond building between the two generations.
These intergenerational visits are treasured by both the children and the residents. They offer incredibly rich opportunities for learning, empathy, and relationship-building while strengthening our ties with the wider Inverloch community. Watching the children and residents come together demonstrates the value of shared experiences and reminds us how meaningful community connections can be.

On Wednesday the 12th of November, the children at Inverloch Childcare were invited to come dressed as an occupation or as what they would like to be when they grow up. The rooms were buzzing with excitement as children proudly arrived wearing a wonderful variety of outfits ranging from doctors, firefighters and builders to ballerinas, teachers and even a few imaginative superheroes. Throughout the day, the children enjoyed conversations with educators and peers about their chosen jobs, sharing what they love about them and why they selected that role.
This experience sparked rich imaginative play, role-playing scenarios and meaningful discussions about the many different roles people have in our community. These moments not only encouraged creativity and confidence but also supported the children’s growing understanding of the world around them and the possibilities for their future.

On Wednesday, the 22nd of October, Inverloch Childcare hosted its annual Special Person’s Day morning tea. The children were joined by a wonderful range of special guests, including aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and family friends.
The morning was filled with smiles, conversation, and delicious treats as everyone enjoyed spending time together and engaging in the various activities set up throughout the rooms. The children proudly shared their artwork displayed around the room and delighted in showing their guests some of their favourite toys and play spaces.
It was a beautiful celebration of connection, family, and community and we thank all who joined us for this special day!

On Thursday the 25th of September, Inverloch Childcare celebrated the fun of the AFL Grand Final with a “Footy Colours” dress-up day. The centre was filled with a sea of colours representing not only AFL and NRL teams but also many of our local football clubs from around the area.
The children enjoyed a range of sport-themed activities before sitting down to a classic sporting lunch of meat pies, sausage rolls, and cocktail frankfurts. To finish the day, they were treated to a fun afternoon snack of ice cream cones.
This event continues to be a favourite tradition, bringing joy to both the children and educators as they come together to share in the excitement of footy season.
