Do you know how to save teeth? This is before and two months after periodontal therapy was performed for this lower first molar (309) on a 2 year old cat. His owner was very motivated to save the tooth and is able to do good home care. The initial injury to the gingiva was a foreign body injury due to a rope toy. The area was cleaned, followed by root planing and application of a Hyaluronic acid gel product. The owner applied the same gel every second day for two weeks and has then been brushing and applying maxiguard gel daily. Look at that healing! With annual dental check ups involving full mouth radiographs and cleaning and retake home care this gorgeous kitty will hopefully keep this molar for many years.

Toothtastic had a fabulous 2025! I loved every minute of teaching the two day workshops, and I even took Toothtastic on a plane trip! I also really enjoyed visiting my regular NSW blue mountains and central coast clinics each month.
2026 is looking very exciting, with a new portable drill purchased to make the workshops even better, and a portable servotome to provide better oral surgery options for my regional patients. Two trips for me to Ireland to attend ESAVS training in root canal treatment will have me providing endodontic treatments by the end of 2026! Toothtastic went to Inverell on the weekend, where the talented and hard working veterinary team at Gowrie Veterinary Clinic welcomed me for a two day dentistry workshop. We had some lectures, looked at various instruments and tried them out, practised some dental radiography and extraction techniques, and of course we had good food and great company! Thank you Gowrie Veterinary clinic for your warm country hospitality, I loved spending time with you ! 🦷💖🔥

I had a fabulous 2 1/2 days with the team from MidCoast Vets in Macksville. An enthusiastic group of nurses, reception staff, and vets joined me on Saturday for a team session on home care, instrument use and maintenance and client communication before our practical session on taking dental X-rays. On Sunday a brave room full of vets gave up their morning for some theory lectures, with some of them joining in for a wet lab afternoon of nerve block and extraction techniques. The next day I ran another dog wet lab followed by a cat wetlab so that this large team all had the chance to join a session. We even had a live case going on (emergency dental / facial trauma case) that I was able to assist with in the middle of the wet lab 😁🦷💕. Highlights of the weekend included learning how amazing a set of sharp luxators can be, how to do a periosteal releasing incision, trying out some loupes, the diamond football bur and the root tip bur, the best way to manipulate dental software to get a good image, and of course lots of yummy food 🥘. What a great team they are, thanks for having me, I hope I get to come back one day 😁.

Arrived in beautiful Macksville for a 2 1/2 day workshop at Mid Coast Vets - a large 3 branch clinic where the staff are keen to grow in their dentistry skills and have given up their weekend to learn and participate in a weekend of dentistry 💕🦷😊 what a privilege to be asked to visit - can’t wait to get started!
