Good Counsel Primary School's Yr 6 Outback Adventurers visited the iconic Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton.

A fantastic time was had by all as we stepped inside the Waltzing Matilda Museum, where interactive exhibitions and state-of-the-art displays bring to life the history of Western Queensland and the story behind A.B. ‘Banjo’ Paterson’s iconic ballad.

Interesting facts:
The Waltzing Matilda Centre is the first museum in the world dedicated to a song!

If there’s one song that lives in the heart of all Australians, it’s Waltzing Matilda…

Written at nearby Dagworth Station in 1895 and first performed at Winton’s North Gregory Hotel, Waltzing Matilda has become Australia’s unofficial national anthem.

This afternoon Good Counsel Primary School's Y6 Outback Adventurers visited the Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience in Longreach!

It was an exhilarating Cobb & Co stagecoach ride, which took us on the original bush mail route. We had to hang on to our bonnets for the gallop! 😂😂
This is pioneer travel!

Today the Good Counsel Primary School Y6 Outback Adventurers visited Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre.

They had a fantastic time as they stepped into the Story of the Australian Outback.
They watched the outback come alive in a cinematic experience.
Felt the power of the Live Outback Stockman’s Show and explored immersive galleries with personal audio storytelling

This isn’t a museum. It’s an experience!

Today, Good Counsel Primary School's Sacramental students attended a fun filled day at The Mother of Good Counsel Church with Gen Bryant.
Gen is a highly popular contemporary Catholic singer-songwriter, composer, and youth minister based in Melbourne, Australia. She travels across the country leading parish ministries, school retreats, and mass events, and is well-known for engaging young people with her authentic praise and worship music.

🏉✨ Today, our Year 1, 3 and 4 students were lucky enough to welcome Coach Peri from the NRL and Joe from the North Queensland Cowboys to Good Counsel Primary School! 💙💛

Our students had an amazing time learning and developing their rugby league skills through a range of fun games and activities. There were plenty of smiles, great teamwork and lots of enthusiasm on display! 🙌🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏉

A huge thank you to Coach Peri and Mr Joe for sharing their time, knowledge and passion for the game with our students. 👏

Thank you to GCPS HPE teacher Mrs Daniella Stephenson for organising such a great event.👏👏👏

These sessions were held in support of the upcoming Country Week match, where the Northern Pride take on the South Logan Magpies this Saturday, 25 July, at 3:30 pm at Callendar Park. 📍🏟️
