For little people, wellbeing can begin with some very simple things. 💛
Feeling safe.
Feeling connected.
Feeling heard.
Knowing their grown-up is there.
On World Mental Health Day, we’re celebrating one of the beautiful things music gives families: another way to connect.
Children don't always have the words for what they're feeling.
But they can move.
They can sing.
They can make noise.
They can slow down.
They can cuddle while you sing a familiar song. 🎶
And sometimes those small shared moments are exactly what a little person needs.
So today, perhaps forget about singing beautifully.
Choose a song your child loves, sit together and just be in the music with them. 💛

Term 4, Week 1 Milestones
Term 4 has only just begun… and look what we’re already working on! 🌱🎶
This week, each age group has its own developmental focus:
💛 0s — Watching and learning from peers
💙 1s — Building confidence
💚 2s — Identifying and responding to pitch: high, middle and low
🩷 3s — Responding to dynamics
💜 4s — Notating rhythms
From a baby beginning to notice and learn from the other children around them, to a four-year-old starting to write down rhythms — there’s an incredible amount of growth across the Mini Maestros journey. 🥹
And this is just Week 1.
Over the next ten weeks, we’ll keep building on these skills through singing, movement, instruments, listening, play and plenty of repetition.
Welcome to a whole new term of Music. Movement. Milestones. 💛

There’s a BIG difference between simply hearing music and getting involved in it. 🎶
When little ones sing, clap, tap, move and play along, they’re combining listening with movement, attention and participation.
In other words…
Don’t just press play. PLAY! 👏🥁💃
Sing badly. Dance enthusiastically. Grab the wooden spoons.
Your little Maestro won't mind. 😉

Sometimes it’s the little moments that say it best. 💛
A hand reaching for an instrument.
A familiar song.
A dance together.
A smile across the room. 🎶
We loved this little glimpse of Loli and her little one enjoying Michelle’s Mini Maestros class in Altona North.
Because while our children are busy learning through music, parents get something pretty special too — time to stop everything else and simply play, connect and be together.
Thank you Loli for sharing your Mini Maestros moments with us, in collaboration with Mini Maestros. 💛

And we’re back… welcome to TERM 4! 💛There’s something extra special about this one because it’s officially Concert Term!...

And we’re back… welcome to TERM 4! 💛
There’s something extra special about this one because it’s officially Concert Term! 🎤✨
Over the coming weeks, our little Maestros will keep singing, moving, playing, listening and learning — while gradually getting ready to share some of what they’ve learnt at our end-of-year concerts.
For some children, the concert will mean singing and playing with gusto. For others, simply getting up there with their class will be an achievement worth celebrating.
It’s not about perfection.
It’s about participation, confidence, community and that wonderful feeling of “I did it!” 🌟
Teachers, families and little Maestros — here we go!
Welcome to Term 4. 🎶

World Animal Day 🐘🐦🐒
What would an elephant sound like if it joined an orchestra? 🐘🎶
It’s World Animal Day, so today we’re turning the whole family into an animal orchestra!
🐾 Pick an animal
🎵 Make its sound
💃 Add a movement
🤔 Everyone else has to guess what you are!
Can you stomp like an elephant?
Hop like a kangaroo?
Flutter like a butterfly?
Or squawk like a very noisy parrot? 😂
Then let your little Maestro choose the next animal and lead the game.
No instruments required — just bodies, voices and plenty of imagination. 💛
What animal would your little one choose first?

🎶 UNIQUE INSTRUMENTS | #1 of 6
It looks a little like a flying saucer… 🛸
But this unusual instrument makes the most beautiful sound.
Meet the handpan.
Played with the hands and fingers, its different areas produce different notes, creating soft, resonant sounds that can almost feel like several instruments at once.
👂 Listening challenge:
Can your little one hear when the notes sound higher or lower?
Over the next weeks, we’re travelling beyond our usual Mini Maestros instruments to discover some wonderful sounds from around the world.
Have you ever heard a handpan being played? 🎶

Happy International Music Day! 🎶🌏
Today is a lovely reminder that music doesn’t need to be saved for music class.
It can be part of the everyday.
The song that gets everyone moving in the morning.
The silly one you sing in the car.
The familiar tune that helps a little body slow down at bedtime. 💛
So today, we have a Mini Maestros challenge for you:
🎵 Create your family's 3-Song Daily Toolkit
1️⃣ WAKE UP — one song to start the day
2️⃣ MOVE — one song for dancing, playing or getting out the door
3️⃣ WIND DOWN — one song for cuddles, quiet time or bed
Three songs. Three little rituals. Plenty of opportunities for connection.
What would make your family's three-song list? 👇

Sometimes the biggest change isn’t musical at all. 🌱
✨ Wednesday Wonderful Words ✨
“My daughter showed a noticeable improvement from the first session to the last. Her confidence, especially when interacting in class, increased significantly. We’re really happy with the progress.”
— Soraya Sodeifi
We love hearing about the notes, rhythms and songs children learn.
But hearing that a child is becoming more comfortable, more confident and more willing to interact?
That’s music to our ears. 💛🎶
Thank you, Soraya, for sharing your experience of Judy’s classes.

🐝✨
Music gives the brain quite the workout!
When little ones sing, listen, move and play instruments, they’re engaging multiple skills at the same time — listening, movement, memory, language, attention and more. 🧠🎶
So while your child might think they’re simply shaking an instrument and dancing to a favourite song…
their busy little brain is doing much more.
That’s the magic of learning through music and movement. 💛
