Week 5 — No Bullying Week 💛🌈

This week for No Bullying Week, children explored the importance of keeping our bodies safe, recognising and expressing our emotions, and learning strategies to help calm and regulate our bodies. Through engaging social stories, children reflected on safe and respectful ways to interact with others, how our actions and words can make others feel, and what we can do when we experience big emotions.
We also took our learning outdoors, creating colourful Chalk Peace Walk designs and spending time making mindful creations. These experiences encouraged children to express themselves creatively, practise mindfulness and develop a deeper understanding of kindness, respect, empathy and peaceful interactions. 🎨🫶

It was wonderful to see children thoughtfully engaging in conversations, sharing their ideas and developing strategies to support their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others. 💕🌿

🔬 Science Week 🧪✨

This week, children participated in an exciting Science Week, exploring the wonders of science through a range of hands-on experiments, investigations and challenges. The week encouraged curiosity, critical thinking and discovery as children predicted outcomes, tested ideas and observed scientific reactions in action.

Throughout the week, children engaged in a variety of experiments including Ghost Glove, Colour Explosions, Wiggly Worms, Invisible Ink, Lava Lamps, Elephant Toothpaste, Coke & Mentos, Human Spirographs and Giant Bubbles. Children also participated in a Science Scavenger Hunt, working together to solve clues and explore scientific concepts in a fun and interactive way.

These experiences encouraged children to ask questions, make observations, problem-solve and develop an understanding of cause and effect while fostering a love of learning through hands-on exploration. It was wonderful to see the excitement, curiosity and enthusiasm displayed as children embraced their inner scientists throughout the week. 🧪🌟

🧱 LEGO Week – Building, Creating & Challenging Ourselves! 🧱🌈

This week at OSHC, children participated in LEGO Week, exploring their creativity, imagination and problem-solving skills through a range of fun and engaging building experiences.

Children challenged themselves to create the tallest LEGO towers, designed and painted their own LEGO characters, and worked together to bring their ideas to life. These experiences encouraged creativity, fine motor development, persistence and opportunities for children to share their ideas and support one another.

The fun continued in the gym with exciting foam block building challenges, where children worked individually and collaboratively to build the tallest towers, strongest towers, animals and even their own forts! 🏗️🦁🏰 These challenges encouraged teamwork, communication, spatial awareness, balance, problem-solving and resilience as children tested their structures and adapted their ideas.

It was wonderful to see children using their imaginations, working together and challenging themselves throughout LEGO Week. From creative characters to giant towers and incredible forts, there were so many opportunities to build, create, collaborate and have fun! 🧱💛

💛✨ Friendship Week at OSHC 🤝🌈

This week at OSHC, children celebrated Friendship Week by participating in a variety of engaging experiences that promoted kindness, inclusion, teamwork and positive relationships. Throughout the week, children enjoyed making friendship bracelets, creating friendship trees, friendship flowers and friendship headbands, while reflecting on what it means to be a good friend. They also participated in a range of collaborative group games that encouraged communication, cooperation, problem-solving and supporting one another to achieve shared goals. These experiences supported children in developing empathy, confidence and a strong sense of belonging while providing opportunities to build positive relationships, work collaboratively, share ideas and celebrate each other’s unique strengths. Children demonstrated kindness, respect and encouragement as they formed new friendships, strengthened existing connections and learnt the value of working together as a team. It was wonderful to see children showing care for one another, including everyone in play and creating a welcoming environment where friendships could grow. We loved seeing so many smiles, acts of kindness and meaningful connections throughout the week! 💛🌈

🎨✨ Craft Week at OSHC ✂️🌈

This week at OSHC, children immersed themselves in a fun-filled Craft Week, exploring a variety of creative experiences that encouraged imagination, self-expression and hands-on learning.

Throughout the week, children enjoyed creating colourful sand art, designing and decorating masks, exploring different painting techniques, sculpting with clay, making unique Hama bead creations and expressing their creativity through outdoor chalk drawings. These experiences supported fine motor development, problem-solving, creativity and confidence while providing opportunities to share ideas, collaborate with peers and celebrate each other’s creations.

It was wonderful to see children using their imaginations, experimenting with different materials and taking pride in their artwork throughout the week. We loved seeing so much creativity on display! 🎨💛

💤 Pyjama Party Day 🍿☕🎬

Today, children enjoyed a cosy and fun-filled Pyjama Party Day, arriving in their favourite pyjamas and spending the day participating in a range of relaxing and collaborative activities with their peers.

Throughout the day, children worked together to design and build forts and cubby houses, using their creativity, problem-solving skills and teamwork to create unique spaces for play and relaxation. These experiences encouraged communication, cooperation and imaginative thinking as children shared ideas and worked towards common goals.

Children also enjoyed watching movies, participating in party games and sharing special treats including popcorn and hot chocolate. These experiences provided opportunities for children to build friendships, develop a sense of belonging and enjoy quality time together in a warm and welcoming environment.

It was wonderful to see children demonstrating creativity, collaboration and kindness as they worked together, relaxed and celebrated the joy of spending time with friends. The day was filled with laughter, imagination and memorable moments enjoyed by all. 💤✨

🏅 Sports Day ⚽🏀🏉

This week, children participated in an action-packed Sports Day, celebrating teamwork, physical activity and a love of sport. Children were encouraged to come dressed in their favourite sporting team colours and jerseys, creating an exciting atmosphere filled with team spirit and enthusiasm.

Throughout the day, children took part in a variety of sports-based experiences designed to develop fundamental movement skills and build confidence through active participation. Children explored soccer, basketball and AFL skills, practising techniques such as kicking, passing, shooting, catching and teamwork. They also participated in an athletics circuit that challenged their speed, coordination, balance and agility while encouraging persistence and personal achievement.

Children further extended their learning through a sports-themed trivia challenge, working in small groups to solve riddles, answer questions and share their sporting knowledge with peers. This experience encouraged communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving while fostering a sense of belonging and teamwork.

It was wonderful to see children demonstrating positive sportsmanship, encouraging one another and embracing opportunities to challenge themselves throughout the day. Sports Day provided a fantastic opportunity for children to be active, work together and celebrate their shared enjoyment of sport. 🏆✨

🏆 Speed Stacks Incursion ⚡🥤

Today, children participated in an exciting Speed Stacks incursion, where they were introduced to the fast-paced sport of Sport Stacking. Guided by experienced instructors, children learnt how to stack and unstack specially designed cups in a variety of sequences and challenges, developing both their physical and cognitive skills through fun and engaging activities.

Throughout the session, children practised hand-eye coordination, concentration, reaction time and fine motor skills as they worked to improve their stacking techniques and complete challenges. The activities encouraged children to set personal goals, persevere through challenges and celebrate their achievements as they developed new skills.

Children also had opportunities to work collaboratively with peers, participate in friendly competitions and demonstrate positive sportsmanship. The experience promoted confidence, teamwork and resilience while providing a unique way to combine physical activity with problem-solving and critical thinking.

It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm, determination and encouragement displayed by children as they challenged themselves, supported one another and discovered the exciting world of sport stacking. 🏆✨
