🌟NAIDOC Celebrations at Abergowrie🌟
On Wednesday, the ARTIE students from grades 3-6 participated in the 50 Years of Deadly NAIDOC celebrations at St Teresa’s College Abergowrie. What an awesome day! Upon our arrival, the students were excited and felt very privileged to watch the performances by St Teresa’s College Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance troupes. Afterwards, the students engaged in various activities which included bead making, hunting challenge, palm leaf weaving, face-painting/painting, boomerang throwing and kicking the footy around with some Cowboys NRL players.
Tasting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait cuisine for lunch was a new experience for most of our students in which some of them ate the kangaroo and crocodile kebabs while others tried sop sop (sweet potato, pumpkin cooked in coconut milk) for the first time.
Everyone enjoyed their day! When we arrived back at Ingham State School, Frank our bus driver said, “it was an absolute pleasure to drive our students to and from Abergowrie because they conducted themselves with respect not only for himself but also the teachers and each other while on the bus.”

🍕Last week, 3CM got hands-on with their maths learning as we created our very own pretend fraction pizzas! 🍕

Students explored quarters more while building delicious-looking pizzas and strengthening their understanding of fractions. It was fantastic to see everyone engaged, collaborating and having so much fun learning through play. We can’t wait for our next hands-on maths adventure!
