Today we warmly welcomed back local Year 6 students to experience an education that goes beyond, at Gilroy Santa Maria College.

🎨Transition Day 3 offered students the opportunity to explore our HPE program in the Santa Maria Centre, test their art skills in the Art Room and design their own 3D name tag in the Trade Training Centre.

The Gilroy Santa Maria College community participated enthusiastically in our inaugural Book Week celebrations today!

🧸The celebrations included a colourful costume parade, Writing Competition Awards, Book Review Competition Awards, a Book Fairy Hunt and Homeroom Group Trivia!

🏅The judges had a very difficult job of awarding our winners, but congratulations to the following students for their outstanding efforts.

🏅𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐋𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬🏅

Capping off an outstanding 2025/2026 season, our GSMC QISSN Program was named runner up in the Herbert River Sport Star Awards “Team of the Year” category overnight.

Claiming the 2025 Marbelli Cup, finishing 2nd overall in our Division at the 2026 QISSN Carnival and currently leading the 2026 Marbelli Cup 1-0, our girls were recognised for their incredible achievements, taking out the runner-up award, in a strong field of nominations.

GSMC students excelled across the entire night, with multiple worthy nominations in the Junior and Senior categories. Year 10 student Niko was part of the victorious Northern Squash team which took out Team of the Year, Year 7 student Cianne took home runner-up in the Junior Sport Star and from Year 11 Molly-Rose was awarded the Senior Sport Star runner-up.

Congratulations to Year 11 student Lucas who was awarded the Senior Sport Star of the Year for his achievements across multiple sports at a club, regional and state level.

Gilroy Santa Maria College is proud to host Our Lady of Lourdes School Ingham at the upcoming Astronomy night, Friday August 28.

🤩Bring along picnic rugs and a keen eye to see what’s in the sky!

🔭There will be a raffle on the night to win a Sky-Watcher 70mm Travel Refractor Telescope + Travel Bag (valued at $200). Tickets are $5 each or 3 tickets for $10.

This invite is extended to all Year 5, 6 and 7 students and their families.

Congratulations to Lacey, Phoebe, Molly-Rose, Lara, Maddie, Finlee and Rhianan for earning selection in the Herbert River Track & Field team to compete at the Northern Schools Championships this week.

A big thanks to GSMC staff member Miss Amber for mentoring our students in recent weeks, right through to the Championships!
