Yesterday, Stage 3 enjoyed an amazing excursion to The Rocks, where we explored Sydneyβs colonial past and discovered how our city began.
Throughout the day, we learned about Captain Cookβs voyage and Captain Arthur Phillipβs first journeys to Botany Bay and Sydney Harbour. We explored evidence of Australiaβs first European settlers and saw firsthand how they built the early colony using sandstone and brick that still stand today.
One of the most talked-about stops on our journey was the famous Suez Canal in The Rocks. On the bus ride home, students discussed how this narrow laneway was once used to carry sewage through the area before modern sanitation systems were developed! Eek!
The excursion gave us a wonderful opportunity to connect our classroom learning with real historical sites and imagine what life was like in early colonial Sydney. We are certainly very grateful for our flushing toilets in 2026!
A big thank you to our staff and Ranger for helping make this memorable day possible.

πββοΈπ Running for a Cause β Go Hudson! ππββοΈ
Did you know that one of our Stage 3 students, Hudson, has decided to use his passion for running to make a difference in the lives of children less fortunate than himself?
Hudson has joined The Smith Family's DREAM Run fundraising initiative and has set himself the impressive goal of running 67 kilometres during June. He is tracking every kilometre as a way of holding himself accountable and raising awareness for an important cause.
Sadly, 1 in 6 Australian children grow up in poverty, and Hudson wants to do his part to help.
We are incredibly proud of Hudson for showing such kindness, initiative and community spirit. He has already completed 28km of his 67km goal β what an amazing effort! π
π Keep going, Hudson β TPS is proud of you! π
