These students were part of the Berry Public School team that gained Tournament Honours at the 2025 International TOM Final, and they jumped at the chance to provide volunteer assistance on Tournament Day this year. Well done! 👏

♟️🏆 SHOALHAVEN ZONE CHESS CO-CHAMPIONS!🏆♟️

What an incredible day for our Huskisson Public School chess players at the Primary Schools Chess Competition!

Four Husky teams put their strategic thinking, patience and problem-solving skills to the test against some of the best young chess players in the Shoalhaven — and they certainly made us proud!

♟️ Team Soccernuts – Charlie, Oliver, Bronte and Byron – all secured individual wins and finished comfortably in the middle of the table. A fantastic 4–0 clean sweep in one round was a definite highlight!

♟️ Team Toughnuts – Harley, Mac, Sophie and Chanelle – showed wonderful determination and persistence. Every player recorded at least one win, with a couple of very closely fought draws along the way.

♟️ Team Totalnuts – Zac, Mikka, Billy and Jackson – produced a consistently strong performance, with every player contributing to the team score. Special mention to team leader Zac for an outstanding performance on the highly competitive Board 1, helping the team secure an impressive 4th-place finish!

♟️🏆 And then there was Team Chessnuts – Harry, Gus, Isaac and Charlie! These superstars won seven of their eight rounds, including an incredible SIX 4–0 clean sweeps, to finish joint first and become the 2026 Shoalhaven Zone Co-Champions! What an achievement!

Beyond the results, we were incredibly proud of how our students represented Huskisson Public School. They demonstrated wonderful Husky STAR values, showing focus, grit, teamwork, curiosity and outstanding sportsmanship. Whether celebrating a win, learning from a loss or battling through a close match, they represented our school beautifully. 💙⭐

A huge thank you to all of the parents who transported, encouraged and supported our players throughout the day. A very special thank you to Laurie, who went above and beyond to help make the day such a successful and enjoyable one. Your support is very much appreciated!

🏉 DRAGON LEAGUE TAG DAY! 🏉

What a fantastic way to finish the week!

On Friday, our Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 students headed out for the NRL Dragon League Tag Day, enjoying game after game of League Tag in absolutely spectacular weather. ☀️

While the day was all about participation rather than competition, we certainly think our students were winners on the day! 🌟 Their sportsmanship was outstanding and was commented on by other schools throughout the day. Our Huskies included everyone, encouraged one another and showed plenty of skill, determination and teamwork — exactly what we love to see!
A huge thank you to our teachers for preparing and supporting the students so well, and to the NRL team for organising such a fun and incredibly well-run day.

Great weather, great sport and even better sportsmanship — what a way to end the week! 💙🏉

🎓 HIGH SCHOOL, HERE WE COME! 🎓

Our Year 6 students had a fantastic visit from the Vincentia High School Mentors, giving them another exciting glimpse into high school life!

There were plenty of laughs as students and mentors joined in fun games and activities, but most importantly, our Year 6 students got to ask all those questions they really want answered about heading off to high school.

A huge thank you to Mr Ryan and the wonderful Vincentia High School mentors for giving up their time, sharing their experiences and making our students feel so welcome and excited about what lies ahead.

Huskisson Public School is very fortunate to have Vincentia High School as our local high school, and we loved hearing about the many fantastic opportunities waiting for our students as they take this next big step. 💙

Thanks for visiting — we had fun, learnt lots and are feeling a little more high-school ready!

🐬 Stage 3 Learning Beyond the Classroom 🌊

Yesterday, Stage 3 walked to the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum to hear from scientists researching marine life, particularly the dolphin populations that call Jervis Bay home.

Students heard from marine ecologist Dr Katharina Peters who was supported by research students Juliette Gard, Elise Beaumont, Hannah Davies and Ilona Sinn.

The event was originally designed for high school students, but thanks to the initiative of our Year 5 teacher, Miss Loui, our students were fortunate to have an additional session created especially for them. We are incredibly grateful to the research team for adapting their day and presentations to include our students, and to the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum for hosting the event during Science Week!

We are so fortunate to live and learn in a community where experiences like this are within walking distance — and to have staff who actively seek out opportunities that take learning beyond the classroom and connect our students with the incredible people and places around them. 💙🐬

The other good news - Today we will see Stage 2 venture down but they will be learning about Antarctic plants 🌱

🎤 WHAT A FIRST YEAR FOR OUR HUSKY DEBATERS!🌟

A huge congratulations to our Huskisson Public School Debating Team on an incredible first season!

Supported by a very eager and talented Debating Club, our team has grown enormously throughout the year — developing their confidence, teamwork, quick thinking and, of course, their ability to put forward a very convincing argument! 😄

Their fantastic inaugural season came to an end with an incredibly narrow defeat against Callala Public School. While it wasn’t quite the result we hoped for, we couldn’t be prouder of how far this team has come in their very first year of debating.

A huge thank you to every member of our debating team and extended Debating Club for the enthusiasm, commitment and support you have shown throughout the season. You have certainly set the bar high for Husky debating!

Special thanks to Mrs Norris, who has done an awesome job in her first year of coaching, and to Ms Lewis for her occasional cameo appearances as guide, supporter and debating sounding board! 😂
