Our language students recently immersed themselves in vibrant celebrations of language, culture and community. Elective Japanese students enjoyed a presentation from the Japanese Consulate in Sydney, exploring seasons, cuisine and traditional toys. They joined a virtual Furoshiki workshop with the Japan Foundation, learning how to wrap items using beautiful Japanese fabric, and finished the day with an energetic Taiko drumming session. Meanwhile, Year 8 French students gathered for an afternoon of lively French trivia covering food, culture, music and language!

Junior School embraced the joy of reading, storytelling and connection as we celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime 2026.
This year’s official book, 'Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller', whisked us into the outback alongside Luna and her friends as they chased their football dreams. There was plenty of fun and action for our girls, inspired by Luna’s courage, resilience and self-belief as she tackled nerves, tricky opponents and unexpected challenges along the way!

Stage 2 were delighted to welcome Australian author Jacqueline Harvey to Danebank. The much-loved writer of the ‘Alice-Miranda’ series inspired our students with stories from her writing journey, sharing how ideas grow into published books, and encouraging the girls to embrace creativity, curiosity and a love of reading. The students were excited to hear about her new book, ‘The Girl and the Ghost: Grand Opening’. Jacqueline’s visit provided a wonderful opportunity for our girls to deepen their appreciation of literature and connect with one of Australia’s most celebrated children’s authors.

Danebank’s Old Girls Association hosted a special lunch for our Year 12 students. OGA President, Associate Professor Noelene Weatherby‑Fell, warmly welcomed the girls before they heard from some recent graduates who have already begun their journeys as members of our alumnae community. As our soon-to-be-graduates prepare to step beyond our green gates and into new adventures, the OGA network offers a meaningful way to stay connected, seek guidance in their ongoing studies, and gain valuable career insights. Remaining part of the Danebank family brings lifelong benefits, and we are proud to see our Class of 2026 joining this vibrant and supportive community.

Congratulations to our girls who proudly represented Danebank at the Da Vinci Decathlon. This academic challenge tests students’ thinking, problem solving, and creativity as they compete in teams of eight across ten disciplines: engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography, and legacy. Our students approached every challenge with enthusiasm and energy, and were wonderful representatives of Danebank. Each team gave their very best, and we had great success with our Year 7 team placing 1st in Engineering! Congratulations to everyone involved.
