The Climate Cafe discussing leadership and future hope. Led by UTAS SIPS team, Emily Mcdonald and Dora Cheung. Mentors included former team members Aisha Bissett, Josh Hale and Chris Allen as well as Kingborough Deputy Mayor Clare Gladewright and Huon Valley Councillors Paul Gibson and Jenny Cambers-Smith. The Zayed Team, the SRC leaders and Huonville Primary joined in the animated discussions. Great day!

Over 50 people celebrated film launch Sustainable Careers in Science: Exploring Huon Valley Businesses. The film documents the Science Week Tour of Huon Valley STEM businesses and was launched by Rosalie Woodruff at the Huon Valley Hub last night. The film made by Robert Alcock documents the journey of the Zayed Huon Futures Team of students as they respond and react to the six Huon Valley businesses. The documentary focusses on career paths of the business leaders in Science and STEM.

So proud of the Zayed Team who lead the Science Week Huon valley Tour of sustainable business Innovations on Saturday. Welcomes, introductions, registrations, catering, and thank-you speeches. Next week is science week celebrating Science Technology Engineering and Maths - otherise known as STEM.
On Saturday 20th we are running a tour of businesses in the Huon who use STEM for sustainability. Today we took Huonville High and TAFE students on a “warm up” tour. Bodie Cavanagh showed us his amazing, engineering invention that converts waste into biochar. This tech plays an important role in the race to trap carbon out of the atmosphere. Marshall Roberts is achieving a similar goal at Valley Field. He has revolutionised the family farm using regenerative agriculture principles to build up carbon rich topsoil. By emulating natural systems, he has cut fossil fuel use by 90% and totally eliminated fertiliser use and hay production.
