What a wonderful way to celebrate Book Week!
On Tuesday, 1 September, our school came alive with an incredible parade of favourite book characters, creative costumes, and smiling faces.

A huge thank you to our students, families, and staff for the time, effort, and imagination that went into creating such fantastic costumes. It was wonderful to see everyone embrace this year's Book Week theme and share their love of reading.

Events like our Book Week Parade remind us of the magic of books and the way stories inspire creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and helped make the day such a special celebration. We hope the joy of Book Week continues to inspire our young readers throughout the year!

🎁 FATHER’S & SPECIAL PERSONS DAY STALL 2026 🎁

Our much-loved Huonville Primary School Association Father’s & Special Persons Day Stall is coming up!

📅 Thursday 3rd September
🏫 During school hours
🎁 Gifts available for $5, $10 or $15

The stall gives our students the chance to choose a special gift for a dad, step-dad, grandfather, uncle, carer or another special person in their life, and there’s always plenty of excitement in choosing just the right one! 💙

🎁 WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS!

We’re asking our wonderful school community to help us fill the stall with new, affordable gifts.

Think coffee mugs, travel cups, chocolates, biscuits, novelty socks, candles, hand cream, small plants, playing cards, puzzle books, stationery, mini games, gardening goodies, photo frames, unused gift sets — or anything else you think someone special would love.

Donations can be dropped into the School Office by Wednesday 2nd September.

Every donation, big or small, helps us create a fun and affordable shopping experience for our students while supporting the fundraising work of the School Association. 💚

💳 NEW THIS YEAR — PRE-PAY!

No cash? No problem!

Families can pre-pay $5, $10 or $15 for their child to spend at the stall using the QR code on our flyer. This means your child can come along and shop on the day without needing to bring money to school.

💕 EVERY CHILD, EVERY GIFT

Most importantly, we want every child to be able to take part, regardless of their family’s circumstances.

No child will miss out on the opportunity to choose — or receive — something special to give. We’ll be sharing more about our Every Child, Every Gift initiative very soon. 💕

Thank you, as always, to our incredible school community for helping us make these special days possible.

Together, we can make sure every child goes home with a gift to give with pride. 💙🎁

Kindergarten Science Day

Kinder celebrated National Science Week: Seeds of Science with families this week. We explored physical reactions, chemical reactions, gravity, elastic energy, Bernoulli's Principle, biometrics, sequencing, vibration and sound, capillary action, and observing with purpose. Of course, like all good scientists, we asked lots of why questions, when questions, what questions, and how questions. Thank you, amazing community for coming and joining us in the joy of experiential learning; the faces say it all (so much concentration!!).

Young Archie Awards Competition Results
All students from Prep to Year 6 Art classes completed a portrait of either themselves or someone they know as part of this year's Young Archies.

The standard of the artwork was exceptionally high, making the judging process challenging. Judges Heather Crisp and Harriet Wilson were impressed by the creativity, skill, and individuality shown in the portraits. They looked for artworks that had something special or striking that made them stand out from the crowd.

After careful consideration, judges selected the following students to receive Encouragement Awards and Overall Winner Awards.

Congratulations to all students who participated. You should be proud of your artistic efforts and the wonderful portraits you created.
