🇦🇺 This morning we commemorated ANZAC’s at our school. All students spoke wonderfully in front of the crowd. Thank you to the local and extended community for coming to support our annual event.

Reminder ANZAC day commemoration at Cameron Downs tomorrow morning starting at 9 am. Student presentations and readings. Come and join us. Bring a plate, share in a cuppa after the commemoration, stay for Mt Isa Playgroup, Hughenden library activities and Townsville Cathedral School visit. Flinders Shire Councillors will be attending and meet the new CEO, Kylie.

Please join us as our students commemorate ANZAC Day on Tuesday 28 April.

Following the ceremony, we invite you to stay for morning tea while students participate in RAFS activities. We are also pleased to welcome visitors from Hughenden Health, who will be conducting hearing tests and general health checks, as well as representatives from ABC Radio and Flinders Shire.

We look forward to sharing this meaningful and memorable day with you.

Four rural schools are once again sending their Year 5 and 6 students on an unforgettable adventure to Canberra this year.

Our students will have the opportunity to experience some of Australia’s most significant national institutions and landmarks. Their itinerary includes visits to the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House, the Royal Australian Mint, CSIRO Discovery Centre, the Australian Institute of Sport, National Capital Exhibition, the National Gallery of Australia, the National Arboretum and the High Court of Australia — and so much more.

For many, this will also include a very special first: experiencing snow!

We extend our sincere thanks to WestWind and RRETS – Rural and Remote Engineering Technical Services for their generous sponsorship of this educational experience. Your support plays a vital role in providing our students with opportunities they will remember for a lifetime, and we are truly grateful to have you as partners in their learning journey.

MacKenzie McConachy, a former student of Cameron Downs State School, left us three years ago to attend boarding school at Grammar in Townsville. During her time at Cameron Downs, MacKenzie was a dedicated and hardworking student who consistently gave her best in everything she undertook, no matter how hard the obstacles.

It is wonderful to see her continuing to achieve great success. Recently, MacKenzie played football for the Sand Crabs, where not only did her team secure a win, but she was also awarded Player of the Match.

Congratulations, MacKenzie — we are incredibly proud of your achievements and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the future.
