Neffy devices and school readiness
Neffy is a new needle-free adrenaline medication that may be prescribed instead of an EpiPen or another adrenaline auto-injector for people at risk of anaphylaxis.
While Neffy is becoming available in the community, schools are currently unable to support its use until staff complete mandatory training. Although online education is available, practical training has been delayed due to the late delivery of the required training equipment to schools.
If your child has been prescribed a Neffy device, please do not send it to school as a replacement for their current adrenaline auto-injector at this stage. We must first ensure our staff have received the necessary training to safely administer this medication in an emergency.
Until our staff have completed all of the required training, we need families to continue providing your child's prescribed adrenaline auto-injector for use at school.
We will provide further information as soon as staff training can be completed.
