Some maritime fun enjoyed at our Business Meeting today - President Steve surprised everyone by presenting 'GOLDEN RIVETS' (some say found on navel vessels 😉) to several Veterans.
Thank you also Michelle Byrne- Councillor for taking Sunday morning time out to attend.

🎄Our MOST grateful thanks to ALL who contributed their time and energy to this REALLY enjoyable evening - including visitors & friends not often seen🎄

'Many hands make light work' and while there was no shortage of them generously volunteered throughout the evening, our cooks and bar staff deserve EXTRA special mention for their seemingly tireless input and gastronomic efforts.

Likewise those who contributed additional little touches - such as xmas decorations, the birthday cake, and lucky door prizes - which offered so much festive cheer and enjoyment to the evening for everyone🎄

We had a proud moment at our Ladies Monthly Morning Tea today with Kim Woodford from Quilts of Valour Australia presenting Lesley Crockford, widow of Veteran Corporal Ken Crockford (Military Medal recipient of the Korean conflict), with a beautiful quilt from their organization - LEST WE FORGET 🌺

Services Australia and DVA Desert Rose Mobile Service Centre

DVA has partnered with Services Australia to give veterans and their families in rural and remote areas face-to-face access to DVA and Services Australia through to Mobile Services Centre (MSC) pilot.

They can assist you with:

* registering and using the agency’s online services
* new claims for Centrelink payments
* updating and confirming Centrelink and Medicare information
* information on how financial matters may impact on payments
* assistance with payment and service options
* rural payment entitlements for eligible farmers
* non-cash Medicare transactions
* enrolling for and issuing new Medicare cards
* updating and re-issuing Medicare cards
* social work support and referrals.

What is the Mobile Service Centre (MSC)?

The MSC is essentially an 'office on wheels' that travels to rural and regional locations throughout Australia. The Services Australia staff on board the MSCs have been trained by DVA and can provide information about DVA services as well as assisted access to online services.

MOST grateful thanks to Lloyd Finnis, Freemasons Queensland of Bundaberg, for the recent generous donation of a sturdy weatherproof replacement marquee - our memorabillia and volunteers are well protected from the elements now; and likewise our members/the general public at various commemorative events.
