Buxus harlandii video

Work on a customer’s Buxus harlandii today.
Lovely old tree with textured bark.
Note the dieback on fine branches.

Excited to have demonstrated for the Gold Coast Tweed Bonsai Club at the annual show over the weekend 4-5/7/26.
Wanted to do something different so chose a Japanese juniper about 25 years old.
Naturally growing from right to left and very low. I had visions of a windswept with jins over a rocky outcrop.
Video shows the before and after.
Many hours of cleaning so I could get in to wire.
More wiring required to get space in between pads to open up the branches to show how the wind had shaped the tree.
Will be repotted in a rectangular shallower pot in September.

Lilliannah Bonsai was at Burpengary State secondary College today.
Students in years 10-12 learnt history, geography, science, philosophy and Japanese culture.
Students did the lesson in Japanese and wrote about their favourite tree.
