🌿💧 We’re officially open! 💧🌿
Today we were thrilled to officially open our brand new Nature and Water Play Area! 🎉
This beautiful space has been made possible through the generous support of IPSA – the Illawarra Primary School Association. We are so grateful for your ongoing commitment to our students and our school.
This marks Stage 2 of our playground redevelopment, shaped by the voices of our students through the SRC. They asked for water play, spaces to explore, and areas for shelter—and today, their ideas have become a reality.
This exciting addition builds on Stage 1 – Loose Parts Play, led by Lisa King, and together these spaces create even more opportunities for creativity, exploration and play.
A very special thank you to Nick Bowden from Top Gum Landscaping, a valued member of our school community, for helping bring this vision to life.
Today, we not only opened a new playground but a new chapter of joy, imagination, play, teamwork and problem solving and it was so exciting to turn on the water feature for the first time! 💦

We've got great weather for the launch of the new Water & Nature Play area at 3pm (pick up time) this afternoon.

This is located between the Sandpit and Loose Parts Play.

Cake slices and icypoles will be on sale for $2 in the canteen.

We look forward to seeing you there!

What a productive and powerful Professional Learning Day!

Our day began with our 1st Grouping 10 Moderation Day, hosted at Margate Primary School, where staff collaborated with colleagues from across our network to strengthen consistency, share practice and deepen our understanding of student learning in Reading.

This afternoon, we had the privilege of welcoming Meg Durham - Wellbeing Speaker to Illawarra Primary School. Meg’s engaging and thought-provoking session challenged us to reflect on wellbeing, connection and the importance of looking after ourselves.

Investing in professional growth, collaboration and wellbeing helps ensure we continue to provide the very best for our students and our community.

A reminder that this Friday is a statewide professional learning day (student free day) for all DECYP students from Kindergarten to Year 12 💜

That means… no school and the perfect excuse for a little sleep-in! 😴

And the good news doesn’t stop there, Monday is also a public holiday for the King’s Birthday 🎈

Enjoy the extra long weekend!

Dear LiL families,
Due to a fallen tree branch, the bushland next door to Illawarra is closed until the council approves it to be safe for us to use. Therefore tomorrow’s bush play session will be changed to a classroom based session instead. A much drier and warmer location! 😉 I look forward to welcoming families along.

Congratulations to our Lighthouse Leaders, who received their badges at today’s Whole School Meeting! These students have been generously giving up their own time after lunch to help pack up the Lighthouse, and their support has been absolutely invaluable.

Congratulations also to Wattle House for winning the school cross country! The Wattle House Captains were proudly presented with the shield by Mr Isles.

It was also wonderful to hear from our Class Captains as they shared their observations of respectful behaviour across our school, and to listen to the founders of the F.A.B Club, who spoke confidently about their group and the wonderful way it helps students find something to do at lunch.

A big thank you to the SRC for hosting such a fantastic Whole School Meeting!
