Connecting Partners, Creating Opportunities for Tasmania 🇦🇺🤝

A big thank you to all our education partners who took the time to meet with the TasTAFE team during our Melbourne visit last week.

What stood out most wasn’t just the number of meetings, but the quality of the conversations.

We spoke openly about the changing international education landscape, shifting student expectations, the challenges facing the sector and, importantly, where we see new opportunities for Australian VET.

And one thing came through strongly: genuine excitement about TasTAFE, Tasmania and the opportunities ahead. It was encouraging to hear our partners’ positive outlook for Tasmania as an international education destination, alongside their recognition of the value of practical, industry-connected training and the opportunities TasTAFE can offer international learners.

In a sector that moves quickly, it’s easy to underestimate the value of simply sitting down, sharing a conversation and listening. Yet these engagements are often where trust is built, ideas are exchanged and strong working relationships grow.

📍Island Connections: Taiwan Meets Tasmania

TasTAFE International Programs was delighted to welcome a study tour from Taiwan, led by Principal Chen of the Primary and Secondary School International Educational Exchange Alliance, to our School of the Visitor Economy Collins Street Campus.

From one island to another, learners explored Tasmania's thriving tourism and hospitality industry through an engaging day of hands-on learning and discovery.

Three scholarships are available for students who commenced study in Semester 1 or Semester 2, 2026:

🌱 Student experiencing financial hardship or transitioning into or re-entering the workforce

Scholarship recipients will receive access to a 1000/100 Mbps internet connection for the duration of their course (up to two years).
