Parents in our community recently participated in our first workshop held in the Family Space, focusing on Child-Led Play. Together, we had a rich and engaging discussion about the different types of play and explored the many opportunities that play provides for building strong connections between children and their caregivers.

The workshop highlighted how following a child's interests and allowing them to lead play experiences can support their development, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful moments of connection. It was wonderful to see parents sharing their experiences, ideas, and reflections as we learned from one another.

Introducing Talk. Read. TOGETHER
Strong early literacy grows from everyday moments – talking and reading or sharing books, together.
But how do you talk and read with your child? This is where we come in!
Talk. Read. TOGETHER is an early years literacy campaign to help families with children from birth to age five build literacy skills.
Follow the campaign via Great Start’s Facebook or Instagram.
You will see Tasmanian families putting these tips and ideas into action.
Hear from professionals on how to help build your child’s literacy skills in the early years.
And have access to other resources to help you talk, read, sing and share stories with your child.
Visit the Great Start website greatstart.tas.gov.au/talkreadtogether for more ideas and resources to support you.
For help with your own reading and writing call the Reading Writing Hotline on 1300 655 506.

Pre Kinder is on again today- 1:30-2:30pm in the Kindergarten classroom. Thankyou to our families who attended our first session last week. We hope to meet as many of our Pre-Kinder students as possible over these weekly sessions. If you attend a total of 10 sessions over the year you will receive a free school shirt for next year!

LiL is back for Term 3! Please see attached our Term 3 program and information about our attendance incentives.

In Terms 3 and 4 we will be running an attendance incentive for families to attend as many LiL sessions as possible. Each attendance at a LiL session is an entry into the raffle - more sessions attended means more chances to win!

This term's raffle will be drawn during our Play & Learn session in Week 9. Our friendly Family Space staff will support the winning family to complete their grocery order.

If you attended our Play & Learn session this morning, your ticket has already been entered for today's session ☺️

Pre Kinder is starting in Week 2 for children born in 2022 who will be attending Kindergarten at Herdsmans Cove Primary School in 2027.

Pre-Kinder sessions are an opportunity for your child to explore their classroom environment, meet their Kindergarten teacher and to build relationships with their future classmates.

We will offer Pre-Kinder sessions throughout Terms 3 and 4. Ensure you attend at least 10 sessions to receive a free school shirt for the 2027 school year.
