🤞🏻‼️ PLEASE READ, PLEASE SHARE ‼️🤞🏻

This is a post we never want to have to make, but urgently needs your help. 🤞🏻😢

We are completely out of girls’ clothing in sizes 3-4.
Today, we packed and sent our last four bundles - to families facing incredibly tough situations. A grandmother stepping into kinship care with nothing. A parent who is critically ill and under unimaginable stress.
Right now, any new requests for girls’ sizes 3–4… we cannot fulfil them.

We have already done multiple large shops over the past week, but we simply cannot continue to fund new items ourselves at this pace.

We hate having to turn families away.
If you can help, please:
• Donate gently used or new girls’ clothing (sizes 3–4)
• Share this post to help us reach more people
• Message us if you can arrange a drop-off
Drop-Off Points (message us for details - we sometimes miss comments when we get busy)

We need our community right now more than ever. Every share, every item, every bit of support matters 🧡

I have enjoyed visiting The Glenorchy Child and Family Learning Centre and hope to be able to run some sessions after Easter at some of the other centres around Hobart.
In the meantime you can find me every Tuesday morning from 10-11:30 in the Moonah Multicultural Hub, 65 Hopkins St, with my music centred playgroup "MULTICULTURAL MUSIC AND PLAY". It is open to all families of every background and there is no need to make a booking. We ask for a $4 donation per family to cover rental costs. Hope you can join us!
(No class Easter Tuesday April 7 but otherwise we are on every week, even in school holidays)

Thanks for all your interest but I am going to be unavailable for classes until April May. Please keep an eye on the page for updates. I do hope to run at some new venues later in the year. C

Apparently, babies are listening.

A groundbreaking international study led by researchers from the University of Auckland and Yale University found that singing to babies significantly improved their mood – suggesting a simple, low-cost way to support infant well-being.

The study, called Musical Babies, involved 110 parents and their babies, most under four months old, in New Zealand, where Plunket helped with recruitment, and the United States.

“Across cultures, caregivers naturally sing to their babies,” says Dr Samuel Mehr, Auckland-based director of the Music Lab and principal investigator of the study. “This study shows that such instinctive behaviour has real emotional benefits for infants, which can positively affect the entire family.”

Interestingly, parents gravitated toward singing especially when their babies were fussy.

“We didn’t tell parents to sing when their babies were upset—but that’s what they did,” says Dr Mehr. “They intuitively used music to manage their infants’ emotions, because they quickly saw how effective it was.”

“Our evolutionary understanding of music suggests it plays a key role in communication,” says Dr Mehr. “When parents sing lullabies, they’re sending a powerful message: ‘I’m here, I hear you, and you’re safe.’”
