I almost didn't share this because vulnerability can feel uncomfortable when your role is to support everyone else.

But the truth is - the past few weeks have felt heavy.
Not in a dramatic way. Just in the quiet, invisible way many mothers understand.

The mental load. The constant giving. The emotional capacity it takes to care for everyone around you while quietly running low yourself.

As a sleep consultant, I spend my days helping families find more rest. But lately I've been reminded that even the people who teach rest can forget to protect their own.

And maybe that's a reminder someone else needs too.

You can deeply love what you do, and still need to pause.
You can care for others, and still need caring too.
You can step back, without giving up.

I'm still here - just learning to listen to my own exhaustion too. 🩷

At 3am Sunday 5th of April 2026, clocks go BACK one hour - hello earlier mornings 😎

Here's how to make it easier for your little one:

⭐ Option 1: Shift Gradually
Start moving your routine later by 10-15 minutes each day/second day, leading up to Sunday.
(If your wake up is usually 7am, wake at 7:10, nap 9:40 - entire routine shift 10mins later)

⭐ Options 2: Switch Cold Turkey
Put your child to bed at their usual time on Sunday - expect an earlier wake for a few days.

🌿 Don't Forget:
➡ Keep the room DARK in the early morning
➡ Stick to your usual routine
➡ Get outside in natural light during the day

🩷 Most children will adjust within 3-5 days with a consistent approach.

One of the biggest myths about sleep?
That once you "find what works"... it should keep working forever.

But sleep doesn't work like that 🩷

Your baby grows.
Their brain develops.
Their emotional world expands.

And with that - your role shifts too.

From:
🤍 Doing everything for them
🌿 Guiding them gently
🌙 Giving space while staying close
🧸 Supporting big feelings at bedtime

Nothing has gone wrong when things stop working.
It's simply a sign that your child is ready for a different kind of support ⭐

Responsive sleep isn't about sticking to one method.
It's about knowing when to adapt - and how to do it in a way that still feels good for you and your child.

If sleep has started to feel hard again, you're not back at square one...
You're just in a new stage 🩷

Motherhood asks a lot of us.

The night wakes.
The mental load.
The constant second guessing.

And somewhere in all of that... your sleep disappears too.

One of the biggest things I hear from mums is: "I just feel so overwhelmed and guilty, all the time".

But, exhaustion changes everything.

When sleep improves, parent's often notice:
😴 More patience
😴 Less anxiety
😴 More confidence in their parenting
😴 More enjoyment of their day

Sleep support isn't about perfection.

It's about helping your whole family feel better.

If night's are leaving you burnt out, you're not alone - and you don't have to figure it out by yourself.

"How many night wakes are normal?"
This is one of the most common questions parents ask.

The tricky part is that some waking overnight is completely normal.

But when wakes become:
➡ Hourly
➡ Long Resettles
➡ Dependent on Parents Every Time

.. it can quickly become exhausting for the whole family.

Most sleep issues I see with babies and toddlers are actually very solvable once you understand what is driving the wakes.

Sometimes it's routine.
Sometimes it's overtiredness.
Sometimes it's sleep associations.

The key is finding the right approach for your child and your parenting style.

💭 COMMENT - How many times does your child wake overnight at the moment?

Rolling & Sleep - a highly debated topic and disruptive process for many babies.

If your baby is sleeping with arms out and has moved into that position themselves, you do not need to flip them back.

If your baby is showing signs of rolling then you need to unswaddle to arms out sleeping ASAP for safety - even though this will probably disrupt sleep, remember this is only temporary.

Overheating is a HUGE contributing factor to SIDS.

We can make recommendations on room temperatures and most you will see are between 18-22 degrees. This is dependent on so many factors including your insulation, number of windows, single/double glazing, window furnishing, ceiling height and the list goes on.

It is important to know that there is no specific temperature that will prevent SIDS.
Preventing overheating is the key.

ALWAYS check chest or back - hands & feet will always be cold and not a good indicator of body temperature.
