💙 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY 💙

Today we celebrate all the wonderful dads, grandads, stepdads, father figures and special people who encourage us, support us, make us laugh and are always there when we need them.

On Wednesday our ELC was buzzing with excitement as our students welcomed their loved ones for a morning packed with fun, laughter and plenty of memorable moments! From tug of war and musical statues to running around playing tents and campers, there was something for everyone. And when it came to musical statues, our dads and children certainly wowed us with who could strike the best pose! The morning also included a special Chapel service, featuring some wonderful ELC volunteers, a singalong, and a delicious BBQ sausage sizzle thanks to our fabulous parent helpers.

A huge thank you to all the dads, father figures, ELC staff and parent helpers who made the morning so special. We loved celebrating with you!

To all the dads and father figures across our St Mark’s community, we hope you’ve had a very Happy Father’s Day. 💙

PRIMARY ATHLETICS - WHO IS GOING TO WIN? 🏆

Our Primary Interhouse Athletics Carnival is in full swing! Yesterday was all about the jumps and throws, while today our students hit the track for the running events alongside the always entertaining team tabloids.

And because it’s our 40th year, we couldn’t resist a little throwback…

On 6 November 1986, St Mark’s held its very first Primary Athletics Carnival at James Cook Reserve. Students competed in sprints alongside some absolute classics – flag races, circle ball, hat-and-coat relays and sack races! Carnley claimed the inaugural win with 251 points, just THREE points ahead of Moyes!

Alan Bevan and Kylie Flanagan were also crowned our first Champion Junior Boy and Girl.

Forty years later, the events may look a little different, but the House spirit and friendly rivalry are still going strong! 💙💚❤️💛

Who are you cheering for today – Carnley, Challen, Moyes or Watkins?

PS ... Photos are from the 1987 Carnival.

HERE’S TO OUR INCREDIBLE EDUCATION ASSISTANTS

For EA Recognition Week, we brought our wonderful EAs together (Primary on Tuesday and Secondary on Wednesday) to enjoy some nibbles, good conversation and a well-deserved moment of appreciation.

Our EAs play such an important role in supporting our students, staff and wider school community. Their care, patience, flexibility and dedication make a difference every single day, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

It was a lovely opportunity to pause, come together and let our EAs know just how much their help, support and contribution means to us.

Thank you to our amazing EAs, we appreciate you more than you know!

🎤 WORDS WITH WOW! | VERSE-ATILITY FINALS 📖

Poetry came to life at our 2026 VERSE-atility Competition Finals, with our Junior School finalists taking to the stage with confidence, expression and plenty of personality!

This year, drama workshops were introduced for every Junior School class, helping students develop their voice projection, stage presence and confidence – and it certainly showed on Finals Day.

A huge congratulations to all our finalists, runners-up and champions, as well as our IPSHA Speakers’ Challenge students who kept the audience entertained with their impressive speeches while the judges deliberated.

Thank you to our teachers, judges and everyone behind the scenes who helped make the competition such a success.

Most importantly, well done to our students for having the courage to step up, perform and discover the power of their own voice. 👏✨

📚 BOOK WEEK | BETWEEN THE PAGES! ✨

Books, costumes, characters and plenty of imagination took over St Mark’s last week as we celebrated Book Week across the School!

From Read-Ins and poetry to workshops, live theatre and literary competitions, there were plenty of ways to celebrate the magic of a good story.

Of course, a highlight was seeing our Primary, Year 6 and Year 12 students bring their favourite characters to life for the much-loved Book Week parades!

A brilliant week of reading, storytelling, creativity and fun – because there’s nothing quite like getting lost between the pages!

🌊 SURF’S UP! 🏄‍♂️

Our St Mark’s Surf Team hit the waves at Trigg Beach recently for a brilliant day of school surfing and bodyboarding competition!

With 16 students competing across Junior and Senior Surfing and Bodyboarding, there was plenty of skill, determination and team spirit on display – helped along by some pretty spectacular conditions, with clean offshore winds and overhead waves.

St Mark’s was well represented throughout the competition, with students progressing through to the Junior Bodyboarding Final and Senior Surfing Semi-Finals.

Most importantly, it was fantastic to see our students supporting each other, giving it their best and representing St Mark’s so well.

Well done, team – not a bad day at the office! 🤙🦁

🎶 MUSIC RECITAL NIGHT | YEARS 11 & 12 🎶

Our Year 11 and 12 ATAR Music students took to the stage last week for their Music Recital Night, sharing selections from their Semester 2 programs with family, friends and our wider community.

A highlight was seeing our Year 12 musicians perform a solo piece accompanied by a School ensemble – a fantastic opportunity for our students to build their performance and accompanying skills.

Congratulations to all our talented musicians on a wonderful night of music and a brilliant showcase of the hard work, dedication and growth behind every performance!
