Guitarists that make me smile!
Dickey Betts' life was complete at the age of 80 on the 18th April this year. One of the founding members of The Allman Brothers Band. He played with seamless melodic ideas and composed the great instrumentals; 'Jessica' and 'In Memory of Elizabeth Reed'.

Happy New Year, 2024 from Avenue Guitar School.
The last two weeks of January usher in the new school year. Lessons will begin on Monday 22nd January and that following week for private students. I look forward to seeing those continuing from last year and new faces that will start this year.
Some times for lessons are still available in both Toowoomba and Highfields.

While tidying up my music collection I found this sheet music by Arthur “Guitar Boogie” Smith. He was also the composer of “Dueling Banjos”, originally titled “Feudin’ Banjos”. After discovering that Warner Brothers had used an arrangement of the tune, without his permission, he successfully sued them for compositional rights.

My wife Jan, got the wonderful folk at Photopro to restore this photo of the trio Livingston; myself, Howard Carroll and John Mann. This was taken, I believe at a New Years gig about 20 years ago by John’s wife Pam. I played Bass guitar with them for about a year and a half and thoroughly enjoyed the gigs we performed.
