Possibilities // We were delighted to welcome our 2027 Preppies as they got their first glimpse of school life at Mary Mac today.

Our Preppies-in-Training program is designed to help our newest Joeys feel at home, build familiar connections and prepare for a smooth and happy start to school next year.

Our future Preppies explored their classrooms and playground, got to know our Prep teachers and made new friends. For many, it was their very first glimpse of 'big school' and it was wonderful to see their growing confidence as they embraced the excitement of the day.

We can't wait to welcome them back for their next transition morning as they take their first big steps as a Mary Mac Kid.

Possibilities // Last week, our Year 6 students travelled to Sydney and Canberra to learn, explore and unlock new possibilities beyond the classroom.

The first stage of camp started in Sydney, they visited the Mary MacKillop Place to explore the Memorial Chapel and Museum. This segment helped our students reflect on Mary MacKillop's legacy of being a pioneer in her time.

Students also had the opportunity of visiting some of Australia's most iconic landmarks, including the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour, and a ferry ride to Manly.

The second stage of camp took place in Canberra, where our students immersed themselves in what has made our nation it is today. From visiting Parliament House, Government House to the Electoral Education Centre and the National Museum of Australia.

It was an incredible experience for our young people. And we are fortunate for Educatours of Australia organising this incredible journey of rich Australian history and culture.

Possibilities and Partnership // Our Junior School welcomed researchers from the Ecological Hearing Outcomes (ECHO) Lab at Macquarie University to collect data for an ongoing project that helps researchers better understand how students listen to learn in the classroom.

This project includes video and audio recordings that ECHO researchers will use to recreate the classroom environment in their laboratory for further research.

The goal of the project is to help teachers develop strategies for creating classroom environments that enable students to learn more effectively, while also providing educational communities around the world with valuable insights into the factors that support and hinder learning.

We are fortunate to partner with ECHO researchers on this project, which will advance our understanding of classroom environments and student learning.

Partnership and Possibilities // Congratulations to our Senior Health Hub students, who have successfully completed the Health Hub program with Mater Education this year, turning their passion for helping others into meaningful career opportunities.

The Health Hub program equips students with practical skills and real-world experience, helping them take confident steps towards careers in nursing, allied health, aged care and other health professions.

Our aspiring healthcare professionals have achieved nationally recognised Certificate qualifications in Health Support Services and Health Services Assistance, gaining a valuable foundation for further study and employment pathways.

Practical Action and Partnership // Last term, our Year 6 students hosted the annual Work & Welcome Fundraiser, raising funds to support refugees and asylum seekers in accessing meaningful employment opportunities and building connections within our local community.

Work & Welcome engages with refugees and asylum seekers by offering support in work preparation, candidate assessment and screening, while employers receive tailored cultural support throughout the paid placement.

Our Year 6 students organised a lunchtime sausage sizzle, handed out Zooper Doopers and hosted the chocolate toss challenge for their peers to participate in. The fundraiser also gave students an opportunity to share what they have been learning in class and encourage their peers to consider how they can make a positive difference in welcoming refugees and asylum seekers into our community.

Well done to our Year 6 cohort for your passion and leadership and thank you to everyone who supported this important cause. Your generosity helps create real opportunities for refugees in our community and demonstrates the power of compassion in action.

Possibilities, Passion, Partnership, Practical Action, Perseverance and Prayer // We marked the beginning of Term 4 today with our annual College Leadership Badge Ceremony, officially welcoming our 2027 College Captains into their leadership roles.

With our Senior Year 11 and 12 cohorts, staff and special guests in attendance, our new leaders were formally commissioned for the year ahead as College and House Captains. Sister Di Phillips led us in a beautiful blessing and candle ceremony, followed by the symbolic passing of leadership and presentation of badges by parents and families.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of Senior Jerseys to the Class of 2027, marking the beginning of their journey as the College's newest Year 12 cohort and their final year of formal schooling.

Congratulations to our 2027 College Captains. We look forward to seeing you lead with compassion, courage, integrity and service as you inspire those around you in the year ahead.

Practical Action and Partnership // During the term, students from our Year 9 and 10 cohort had the opportunity to meet with award-winning YA author, Megan Jacobson. Students learnt how Megan created worlds for her fiction books, as well as being challenged to create a fictional world through activities.
