FASD isn't one profession's problem, which is exactly why it keeps falling between all of them.

Teachers — assume can't, not won't.
Doctors — ask about prenatal alcohol exposure.
Midwives — advise early, and without judgement.
Social workers — support families, don't blame them.
Employers — clear routines, a named contact.
Commissioners — implement NICE Quality Standard 204.
All of us — learn the words, share the facts.

Challenging behaviours can be one of the most difficult aspects of supporting a child or young person with FASD, but it's important to remember that these behaviours are often a sign of underlying brain differences, not deliberate defiance. ❤️

Traditional discipline strategies may not work for individuals with FASD. Instead, understanding the "why" behind behaviours and using supportive, preventative approaches can make a meaningful difference for both the individual and their family.
