The successful applicants will need to be available to work a variety of shifts between 6:00am and 6:00pm and be available for an immediate start.

✨ A weekend well spent! ✨

Kirsty and Amber spent the weekend in Brisbane attending the Planning for Play: Play & the Mind Conference.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, reflect and deepen our understanding of the incredible role play has in children’s learning, development and wellbeing. 💛

The inspiring Areta Farrance from Bush Kindy Learning provided us with a wonderful opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect with our own play instincts. 🌿

Exploring what happens when we allow ourselves to return to the joy, curiosity, freedom and wonder of play reminded us just how powerful play is — not only for children, but for us as adults too.

A beautiful reminder that to truly understand children’s play, sometimes we need to reconnect with our own. 💚

We proudly celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, a day dedicated to honouring the strength, resilience, and cultural identity of First Nations children. Their stories, languages, and deep connections to Country represent the world’s oldest living cultures, and their presence enriches our kindergarten community in profound and meaningful ways.

At Hervey Bay Kindergarten, we recognise the importance of creating learning environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children feel seen, valued, and celebrated. We acknowledge the wisdom they carry, the knowledge they share, and the unique ways they experience and interpret the world. Their cultural heritage strengthens our collective understanding of belonging, community, and respect.

As educators, we are committed to listening deeply, learning continuously, and embedding First Nations perspectives in our everyday practice. On this special day, and every day, we celebrate the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children — their joy, their creativity, their connection to land and family, and the cultural strength that guides them.

At rest and relaxation time, we listened to a traditional Butchulla lullaby, Yunma-n Walabai, Walabai Yunma-n, shared by Joy Bonner. This peaceful experience gave the children an opportunity to hear and enjoy Butchulla language through song.

As the children moulded and shaped their playdough, they delighted in discovering Butchulla animal words — dolphin, fish, wallaby, echidna, goanna and kangaroo. Pressing each animal into the dough revealed the footprints they might leave in nature, sparking curiosity and conversation. Natural materials added richness to the experience, encouraging exploration of patterns in nature and inviting the children to connect with Country through touch, texture and imaginative play.

What a privilege it was to welcome Daniel from Educated by Nature for a day of play, exploration and connection.

Our Kindergarten children and educators were excited to share our unique play spaces and beautiful beach kindy site. Daniel was equally excited to share his favourite tools, hammock and ukulele, inspiring curiosity, creativity and joyful moments throughout the day.

In the evening, our educators came together for a reflective feedback session, where we unpacked our shared thoughts about the learning environments we offer. It was a valuable opportunity to celebrate our strengths, exchange ideas and consider new possibilities for enriching children's play and learning experiences.

Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your passion for nature-based play and for inspiring meaningful conversations that will continue to shape our practice.

A big thank you to the lovely Karen from Sandy Straits State School, who visited our Kindergarten today. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to a story about the adventures of Sandy the Seagull on their first day of Prep! We hope to see you again soon!
