FIGHT SMART — NOT LIKE A MAN.
Eyes closed. No warning.
A female student is grabbed from behind in a rear bear hug by a much bigger male.
Her reaction? Immediate. Aggressive. Anything goes.
A hard groin strike drops him to his knees even through a steel groin guard.
That is the point of reality based self defence.
You are not trying to win rounds.
You are not trying to look technical.
You are not standing there trading punches with someone bigger and stronger.
You are trying to stop the attack, create an opportunity and GET AWAY.
Too many people are learning martial arts and sports fighting and believing it automatically equals self defence.
It doesn't.
In many cases you're simply learning to fight like a man strength against strength, punch for punch, technique for technique. Against real violence, a bigger attacker, weapons, surprise or multiple attackers, that may not be enough.
Use the right tools for the job.
Attack vulnerable areas. React hard. Create space. Escape.
🥊 It's not about being able to fight.
⚡ It's about being able to survive.

Straight Knife Stabs to the Chest/Neck Area 🔪
Slow Mo Sunday!
If only knife attacks happened this slow in the real world.
Then we could all do these grab the wrist and apply a lock movie garbage.
Or use your forearm to block then slide in grab the wrist BS techniques we see everywhere.
If you haven't covered the forward stabbing motion and also the recoiling line you're already getting stabbed.
And if you haven't got off the line of attack and dived in strong with your body while both your arms are wrapped around the attackers arm that is holding the knife, then you are getting stabbed again, and again, and again.
Yes that's right real world attacks stab more than once, contrary to most online techniques beliefs 😆

🔪 SURVIVING A KNIFE ATTACK
Survival isn’t about fancy moves, wrist locks or movie style disarms.
It comes down to TIME • SPACE • AWARENESS • DECISION MAKING.
If someone is furiously stabbing from close range and you stand there trying to trap and control the arm, you’re getting stabbed. Back out, create space and survive the initial attack.
Only when there is distance, commitment and forward momentum might you get the opportunity to defend, control, trap the arm and fight back.
Knowing WHEN and HOW to react matters more than knowing 100 fancy techniques.
And the best knife defence when you have the option?
RUN LIKE HELL. 🏃💨🔪

🔪 THE “OH SH*T” MOMENT
Movies and social media make knife defence look easy, grab the wrist, trap the arm, spin them around and snap something.
Reality doesn’t work like that.
At close range, a sudden knife attack is fast, short, violent and repetitive.
You often won’t see it early enough to neatly grab or control anything.
Your brain and body react first: cover, protect, move, get the hell out of there.
That’s exactly what happened in this drill. Our instructor explains how you will do a reflexive action due to the speed and aggression of the attack that will force that reflexive protective response that is in your DNA.
At KMAA we call this the
“OH SH*T” moment. 😳
Train for what people actually do, not Bourne Identity bu****it. 🔪⚡

🥊 DEFENDING PUNCHES — DON’T OVER THINK IT.
We only punch two ways — straight or circular.
And every punch coming at you is doing exactly the same thing.
There’s a live/open side of the punch and a dead/closed side.
You’ll either be caught off guard and react reflexively, or you’ll see it coming and respond aggressively and decisively.
That’s it.
You don’t need a million different blocks, techniques and strategies for every possible punch.
Understand the line. Understand the side. React accordingly. 👊
Keep it simple. Make it work.

What Would You Do if Violence Came Knocking?
What would you do if someone tried to choke you?, pinned you against the wall?, put a knife to your throat?, tried to abduct you?, tried to attack you?, tried to hit you with a hammer?,
Or what if there is 3 of them?
The list in the real world goes on and on, and sadly many think violence will never be in their world.
Well everybody who sadly was r***d, abducted, stabbed, shot, hospitalised by violence said after the fact....
"i never thought it would happen to me".
At KMAA we are not boxing, we are not grappling, we are not sparring, we are not fighting.
We don’t want to fight and we know just because you can fight that means nothing in the street where anything goes and sudden, surprise attacks are the norm.

Why do we train?
We train to not fight, we train to react to problems and stop being attacked asap and get to safety.
We train to avoid, be aware, de escalate, be smarter than that person trying to hurt us.
We train "hopefully" to get an edge in a street attack or violent confrontation.
We train to try and insure and protect our most important assets "US our LOVED ONES".
And sport and traditional fighting isn't necessarily the best way to do that.
Let that sink in!
And then ask yourself.
What am I training for? For a ring fight, to do Hollywood style kicks?, for the traditional aspect?, for a black belt? To be the next UFC champ? Or to simply have a chance to protect you and your loved ones if s**t hits the fan i the real world. Because how you train, determines how you fight or " don't fight".
KMAA We are good at what we do and we stay in our lane to be specialists in real world self defence and don't claim to be anything else.
Be careful what an invested i the business teacher tells you. Do your homework, then train appropriately for what your goal is 👊

What would you do?
If you don't know "read this".
If you think you do know "read this".:Then decide!
You're attacked in your car, knife put to your throat!
Give them your car you say.
What if it wasn't that simple?
What if you have your kids in the car and the attacker wants them?
What if they want you to move over and take you to a 2nd destination?
What if it's your life they want to take?
Would you know what to do to have a fighting chance?
Or would you just sit and watch your child driven away with a knife crazed psychopath?

Oh if that happened I'd go crazy , i"d do anything i need to and save my child or myself..
NO you wouldn't, not if your not trained to cope, deal and function under high level violent and stressful situations and environments.
And sorry the dojo, the ring, the hanging bag, the kata, the learning one technique at a time with a helpful partner will not cut it either.

We train for reality, in realistic conditions and teach you to deal with the reality, the aggression, the confrontation, the anything goes and how to work and make decisions under stress while engaged in real world violent encounters.
Rules do not prepare you for that. Sports fighting does not prepare you for that. Katas and point sparring does not prepare you for that.
Putting you constantly in those situations and in those environments with realistic scenario training is the only thing that can prepare you for all the elements that the real world will throw at you during a violent encounter or sudden attack.
