📢Deadly Start traineeships – Applications now open for 2027!

Queensland Health is offering statewide school-based traineeship positions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students going into year 11 in 2027.

It’s a great way to kick start a career in health through a Certificate II and III school-based traineeship, with opportunities to be considered for ongoing employment.

Students start the 18-month program in year 11, completing a Certificate II in Health Support Services delivered over six months. This must be completed to be eligible to continue into a hospital traineeship position.

🏥Applications are now open for the Certificate II course in Health Support Services.

We have a number of miniature picnic tables, made by our Building and Construction students, available for purchase for $100 each!

These tables are perfect for little ones & have been purchased by daycare centres & families in the past 🤩

📏 Dimensions: 900mm long x 875mm wide (table & seats) x 515mm (table) high/300mm (seat) high.

Edit: All tables have now been SOLD! Watch this space, more tables will be available in the near futute.

Nurse Emma is providing our community with some fast facts about our health each month & the focus for October is Nutrition 🥕

Eating a balanced diet is important at any age, but especially during puberty. Eating too much or too little can impact on growth and development, and even impact on your future health & wellbeing.

The Australian Dietary Guidelines (ADG) recommend adolescents & young adults eat a wide variety of nutritious foods from the 5 food groups every day. I've listed these on the infographic.

Missed the chance to have breakfast this morning? We host a Breakfast Club in HE02 every morning before school from 7:45-8:45am. Come down & have something to eat to start your day right! You can also make a sandwich for lunch later in the day & grab a piece of fruit to take with you 🥪

As always, Nurse Emma is available to chat about this month's health topic. Find her in SE06 from Monday-Thursday.

At the start of spring, Mrs Clancy's Year 7 Science class welcomed Ms Ruby Rosenfield from Fay Smith Wetlands Volunteer Group.

Ms Rosenfield shared her curated photographs of insects from the Fraser Coast, a hobby that she has been passionate about for over 20 years 🦋

Students found the session really interesting & informative & where very impressed by the photos 📸 Thank you so much for your time, Ruby, our staff & students greatly appreciated it!
