What are kinesiologists actually doing when they push on all those arms and legs?
To the untrained eye, kinesiology can look like we're simply pushing on arms and legs.
But there's actually a structured process happening.
We use muscle testing to identify how the body is responding, establish a goal, explore the stress associated with that goal, and identify what may help bring the system back into balance.
Here I'm demonstrating part of a much longer foot and ankle balance with Cathy.
The gastrocnemius initially tested unlocked. After applying the indicated correction, we retested — and the muscle tested locked.
This is just one small glimpse of the process students learn to use throughout the KSA Diploma of Kinesiology.

You don't have to want to become a kinesiologist to want to learn kinesiology.

Maybe you're curious about the connection between the physical body, emotions, thoughts and energy.

Maybe you've experienced kinesiology yourself and thought, What on earth just happened there?

Maybe you already work with people — in counselling, massage, natural health, coaching, movement or another helping profession — and you're curious about a different way of understanding what's going on.

Or maybe this is simply something you want to explore for you.

Professional kinesiology training is a big commitment. Sometimes you need an opportunity to get your hands on it before deciding whether you want to go further.

The KSA Kinesiology Road Trip workshop is one full day of practical, face-to-face learning.

You'll learn some of the foundations of kinesiology, experience muscle testing, explore simple balancing techniques and discover how we begin using the body's responses to guide what happens next.

No previous kinesiology experience is needed.

Follow Your Compass: Learning for Life!

This week is Adult Learners Week across Australia — celebrating the opportunities that come from continuing to learn throughout our lives.

I love this year's theme.

Learning doesn't always have to begin with a career plan.

Sometimes we learn because we're curious.

Sometimes because life has changed and we're wondering what comes next.

Sometimes we want new skills to add to the work we already do.

And sometimes we're simply fascinated by something and want to understand it more deeply.

Many people who find kinesiology come to it later in life, bringing years of work, family, study and life experience with them.

Some eventually become professional kinesiologists. Others simply discover another way of understanding themselves and the people around them.

Ever feel like part of you wants to move forward… and another part is pulling in the opposite direction?

I want to make a change… but I keep doing the same thing.
I want to look after myself better… but somehow everyone else comes first.
I know what I need to do… so why am I still not doing it?

In kinesiology, we’re interested in what happens when different parts of us seem to be working towards different outcomes.

Sometimes simply recognising the conflict can change the way we understand what has been keeping us stuck.

And this is the kind of thing I love teaching — not just talking about kinesiology, but giving people the opportunity to experience it and learn some of the tools for themselves.

That’s why I created the KSA Kinesiology Road Trip workshop.

It’s a full day of hands-on learning where you’ll explore some of the foundations of kinesiology, learn to muscle test, work with simple balancing techniques and experience what it’s like to actually learn kinesiology.

Our first one day KSA Road Trip workshop is in Hervey Bay on Sunday 13 September, 9.30am–3.30pm.

$297 for the full day — and if you decide to continue into the KSA Diploma within three months, your Road Trip fee is credited towards your course fees.
