As we celebrate Book Week, we are reminded of the incredible power of reading to inspire imagination, build knowledge, and foster a lifelong love of learning.

At Star of the Sea, we are proud to partner with Room to Read (ROOP), a global organisation dedicated to improving literacy and educational opportunities for children around the world. Through access to quality books, literacy programs, and educational support, Room to Read helps empower children to reach their full potential and create brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

This Book Week, we are asking our wonderful school community to consider supporting this important cause. Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide books and learning opportunities to children who may otherwise not have access to them.

If you are able, we would greatly appreciate your generosity and support through our Book Week fundraiser:

As a school community, we know the difference that reading can make in a child's life. Together, we can help ensure that children around the world have the opportunity to experience the same joy, wonder, and opportunities that books provide.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, our school, and those in need.

πŸ“šβœ¨ Comics, Creativity & Lots of Smiles! βœ¨πŸ“š
On Monday, our students were treated to an incredible hands-on workshop with local comic creator and illustrator Francis Thomas, and what a fantastic experience it was!
Students were immersed in the exciting world of comic creation, learning how to draw characters, develop storylines and bring their imaginative ideas to life through graphic novels. The enthusiasm in the room was infectious, with students eagerly sketching, creating and sharing their own comic masterpieces.
Francis captivated our students with his passion for storytelling and illustration, inspiring our budding authors and artists to think creatively and explore new ways to tell their stories. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces engaged in such a fun and interactive learning experience.
A huge thank you to Francis Thomas for sharing his time, talent and expertise with our students. Your workshop was a highlight of our Book Week celebrations and sparked plenty of creativity across our school!

πŸ’œ Bullying No Way Week 2026 πŸ’œ

At Star of the Sea, we believe that every student deserves to feel safe, valued and connected.

As part of Bullying No Way Week (17-21 August), our students will be taking part in Kids Helpline's Largest Anti-Bullying Lesson on 17 August 2026. This important learning opportunity will encourage students to build positive relationships, stand up for others, and understand the powerful impact that kindness and respect can have on our school community.

This year's theme, "Small Acts, Big Impact," reminds us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a real difference. A friendly smile, including someone in a game, offering a helping hand, or using encouraging words can help create a culture where everyone feels they belong.

Together, we'll be learning how we can all play a part in making Star of the Sea a place where kindness shines, respect grows, and bullying has no place.

πŸ’œ Small Acts. Big Impact. Bullying No Way! πŸ’œ
