When we launched Sweet Escape Charters in 2020 with one little boat and a big dream (and, let’s be honest, no idea what we were in for 😅), we could never have imagined where it would take us.
From those first bareboat charters in the middle of Covid, to late nights fixing things between full-time jobs, to a growing fleet of five — every single guest who’s stepped aboard has shaped our story.

You’ve turned this dream into something so much bigger than boats. You’ve become friends — family, even. 💙

Now, as we focus on raising our son and soaking up more slow days on the water as a family, we’ve made the emotional decision to pass the helm.

Sweet Escape Charters is now in the amazing hands of Daniel and Laura — two go-getters with experience in the charter world, and the drive to take this business to new heights.

We’re endlessly grateful for every memory, every message, and every moment we’ve shared with you all.

We’re not disappearing — we still own a few vessels in the fleet and will be helping out where we can. We’re just shifting the sails a little, toward more family time (and maybe a taste of the cruising life ourselves 😉).

We are looking for an Assistant to the Operations Manager to do Briefings, Maintenance and Sail Training. If you are looking for flexible hours, a small team environment, and sharing your passion of the water with visitors to our region, this job is for you!

We are looking for a professional team member for our briefing and maintenance team who is able to maintain the boats to a high standard and conduct bareboat briefings with integrity and attention to detail. The brief is a critical factor in maintaining a safe and enjoyable holiday experience for our guests.

Main duties will include:
• Conduct briefings & sail guide training
• Undertake vessel checks reporting any issues
• Complete vessel repairs as needed
• Vessel preparation paying special attention to safety aspects
• Minor gelcoat and fibreglass repairs
• Undertake preventative maintenance, or report as needed
• Slipping of vessels
• Undertaking chase/service calls as required
• Maintain detailed records of works carried out
• Liaise with Operations Manager to follow day to day operational requirements

Preferred Qualifications can include:
• Coxswain / MED / Master 5 / Briefers Ticket / Radio License / Current First Aid / QLD Boat and Jetski Licence
This is salary position, based on part time hours, approximately 70 hours per fortnight, across 7 days a week.

About you:
• Strong boating skills, knowledge and ability to sail essential.
• Previous roles in the marine industry is an advantage.
• Local area knowledge preferred.
• Communicate clearly on the vessel operation, charter area and safety.
• Be able to work weekends.
