🌱 Our Sustainability Journey Is Growing! ♻️
We are excited to share that our developing Sustainability Program is continuing to grow, and we are now introducing two recycling and creative-reuse hubs within our service!
These spaces will provide children with opportunities to explore, create, build and imagine using everyday recyclable and reusable materials. We would love to invite our families and community to contribute clean, safe items that might otherwise be thrown away.
Items we would love to receive:
🧴 Clean bottle caps and lids
📦 Small and large cardboard boxes
🧻 Cardboard cylinders from toilet paper and paper towel rolls
🥚 Clean egg cartons
🥣 Clean yoghurt or food containers
🧃 Clean cardboard food or drink cartons
📄 Cardboard pieces and offcuts
📰 Newspaper, magazines and catalogues
🧵 Ribbon, wool, string and fabric scraps
🍦 Clean ice-cream containers and tubs
🧺 Clean plastic containers with lids
🥡 Clean takeaway containers
🧶 Buttons and other large craft-friendly items
Please ensure all donations are clean, dry and free from sharp edges, small hazardous parts or anything that may pose a safety risk to children.
🌏 Learning Through Creating
These donated materials will become valuable resources throughout our planned learning experiences. Rather than simply seeing a box, lid or cardboard tube as something to throw away, children will be encouraged to see the possibilities within it.
Through building, designing, constructing and creating, children will have opportunities to:
✨ Develop their emerging problem-solving and construction skills
✨ Explore their imagination, creativity and individual visions
✨ Make choices and express their ideas
✨ Work collaboratively and share resources with their peers
✨ Develop social and emotional skills through cooperation, communication and negotiation
✨ Experiment with different materials, textures, shapes and structures
✨ Learn about reusing, recycling and caring for our environment
✨ Develop a growing sense of responsibility and connection to sustainability
✨ Celebrate that there can be many different ways to create, think and approach a challenge
We look forward to watching the children's ideas transform everyday materials into something entirely new and meaningful. 🌈
Thank you to our families for helping us build this program together. Every box, bottle cap, cardboard tube and piece of reusable material can become part of a child's next great idea! 💚🌏♻️
Together, we can encourage children to imagine, create, share, learn and care for the world around them.
