Last week, I had the pleasure of presenting to over 200 amazing Year 12 students about how to be a millionaire by 50!

It’s all about time, and Year 12 students have plenty of that before they turn 50.

Take a look at the smiles on their faces. They were so engaged and had some inspiring questions that kept me on my toes 🙂

I get asked a lot about how much money should be put aside as savings. The answer is - is doesn't matter, just start. Start small, start big, simply start.

An easy place to start is to put aside 10% of your income every pay into an account that's not easily accessible. It could be with another bank, an account that you can't access online or with a trusted parent so you can't make an easy withdrawal.

Over time you will see if 10% is achievable for you and then you can make the smart decision to increase or decrease this amount.

The most important thing is that you put aside your savings first - before bills and all the other demands creep into your bank account.

As your savings grow, you will feel proud of yourself no matter the amount and that's what counts!
