Tri-Club Championships 2026

Date & Time: Sunday, 23rd August 2026. Doors open at 9:30 AM, and the first event starts at 10:00 AM.

Location: Northern Shukokai Karate (18 Culverlands Street, Heidelberg West, VIC 3081). Entry Fee: $55 (covers 1 or 2 events).

Spectators get in for FREE. Deadline: Forms and proof of payment must be turned in to your dojo reception by Wednesday, 19th August 2026. Events Offered: Kata (form/patterns) and Sparring.

Format: Divisions are organized by age and belt rank. It includes a repechage round, meaning every single competitor is guaranteed at least two matches/chances! Required Gear (Sparring): Full protective equipment (Head Guard, Gloves, Shin Guards, Mouth Guard, and Groin Guard for males). Body guards are not required.

This event is explicitly designed as an entry-level competition aimed at helping students grow: Low-Pressure Experience: Because it’s tailored specifically for beginners and developing martial artists, it provides a safe, encouraging environment to get a taste of tournament life without overwhelming pressure. Guaranteed Mat Time (Repechage Format): Losing a first round can be discouraging for students. The repechage system ensures everyone gets at least two opportunities to step out and perform, maximizing learning and ring time.

Guaranteed Recognition: Every single participant receives a medal, reinforcing positive participation, effort, and courage over purely winning. Confidence & Practical Skill: Putting techniques into practice outside regular class drills (especially under spectator pressure) rapidly builds real-world confidence, focus, and emotional resilience.
